The X1 Twin is definitely cool, but as an introduction to the hardware, I think it's better to have a picture of a base model X1 with a keyboard and monitor also shown. But you're right, I really should have included a link to the old picture.
Do you really want to include the Comiket coverage pics? They're kind of hard to read, and they're all in Japanese anyway. They took up a lot of space in the old article, and I couldn't find a good spot for them. I have a lot of magazines myself, but I left out scans so the article wouldn't get too bloated.

For the comiket scans, how about in the caption to the main Technopolis picture, you have the text say: "The magazine feature upwards of ?? pages of comiket coverage: 1, 2, 3, 4"
And the numbers would be hyperlinks to the images themselves, thereby saving space. Or something like that?
Otherwise good work, it's come quite a long way!

How about like this? Annoying? Technopolis was a popular Japanese computer magazine, with extensive coverage of doujinsoft at Comiket.Or like this? The links are a little harder to see... Technopolis was a popular Japanese computer magazine, with extensive coverage of doujinsoft at Comiket (1, 2, 3).

I like both options 1 and 2. Maybe 1 since the hyperlinks are clearer? I probably shouldn't be making requests since handing it over to you, so continue as you see best.

This entire article wouldn't exist without you, Sketcz, so make all the requests you want. Some of the Tokugawa regulars are now applying their vast knowledge to the article, so we may squeeze in one last set of revisions before hitting the HG101 front page.

Cool article, but you guys missed the PC JX version of Thunder Force I again. The JX is the Japanese version of the PC Jr, and I have a copy of Thunder Force I for it. It's terrible, but it definitely exists.
I also think you made a mistake with the versions of Super Mario Bros Special. I've been able to hunt down versions for the PC-8801 and Sharp X1, but I've never heard of their being versions for the PC-66 or FM-7. Are you sure you aren't confusing it with Mario Bros Special? That was definitely released for the PC-6001 although you don't mention it.

MP83's and bluelander's comments made me realize something - Page 4 of the article is still not updated. I corrected these issues in my final revision, but the revised page isn't showing up online.
Discoalucard, could you please re-upload Japanesecomputers4.htm? It's in the .7z archive I emailed to you on Sep 28.
edit: That's weird, it seems like the entire article occasionally reverts back to the unrevised version...

For a future article it might be interesting to review Hudson's non-Nintendo games for 8 bit Japanese computers. These include early versions of Bomberman (much different than the Bomberman we know, he's a guy in overalls and a hat), and Bomberman 3-D (Basically Bomberman from a first person perspective ala early Ultima games). Some of Hudson's games like Bomberman and Pang were ported to the Sinclair Spectrum and Amstrad, but quite a few stayed in Japan.

Is there another connection to the Pang series other than the port Hudson did for the Gameboy?
Edit: Ah I see. Pang is essentially an update of the original Canon Ball game from 1983.

I think that Star Cruiser dilogy of games deserve a mention. FPS + Space sim is pretty cool for '88. The first game was also ported to MegaDrive but the port is very linear compared to open-world original for computers. The best version if x68000 one imo.

Looking for information on a Japanese version of the Radio Shack TRS-80 -- sold by "TANDY / TEAC" and labeled the "PS-80" Anyone know where I can find one if these in a Japanese computer museum? Is there such a thing in Japan? Anyone know of a Japanese retro-computer collector's web site? ref: www.trs-80.com/wordpress/trs-80-computer-line/clones/Scroll down to "Japan" -- btw - this is the ONLY picture reference I can find on the web! Every other reference seems to be Google scholarly science articles from the late 70's or early 80's. Attachments:
