jeez, just pour salt in the wound, why don't you Konami's already been doing that for the greater part of a decade. Suikoden, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Castlevania...

I liked Konami much more when they still had the old logo:

Ah, yes. The old, classic logo with that distinctive musical chime.

Distinctive? Sounds just like Capcom's old one.
They're both scale beeps.

Can't say I remember a Capcom sound from the 16-bit era, though it's been quite some time. I played a hell of a lot of Castlevania IV and Contra III, though.

Ah, memories. Though I liked the little updated version of it, too.

Ahhh, that's the stuff. What are you talking about, Smithee? That doesn't sound anything like the classic Konami tune!

I'm glad to see this board actually has sense. Elsewhere I'm mostly seeing people praising this lazy mess of a game.
Heh, whenever I hear that Capcom jingle, the first thing that pops into my head is always the Street Fighter 2 main theme. I guess playing it on the SNES for years just made me permanantly connect the two in my brain.

I'm kind of nostalgic for this one:

So is it fair to say if Lords of Shadow fails, that Castlevania as a series is pretty much dead? I mean, I've got admit, the Metroidvanias are getting seriously stale, nobody really knows the chances of a Rebirth sequel, Judgement was... well, Judgement, and now this.

So is it fair to say if Lords of Shadow fails, that Castlevania as a series is pretty much dead? That's pretty much exactly how I see it. LoS is pretty much the series' last chance before I completely give it up. Which is rather sad for a series that, for many years, was my favorite.

Well... guess I should add a bit more than what I said above, which was honestly posted before I even played the game. After giving it a chance........ ehhhhhhhhhhhhh. It wasn't the worst thing I ever played, but there WERE many factors that irritated me, mostly what Weasel already mentioned. It was just... glacial and counterintuitive. Seriously, I have to trek really far out of the way to pull a lever to open a door on the floor just below where I am, and then I have to backtrack all the way back to that door. If Alucard didn't move so goddamn slowly, this might be tolerable, but on top of this, the game gives me no direction where to go. It expects me to scan over the map and take time out figuring my pathway under a goddamned time limit. And the boss just took SO much punishment. The only sword I could find was a Falchion, and it took... like, five minutes to kill the boss once I found it. Damage magnets are no turn delightful.
On its own, it's not good. But is the entire game really supposed to be like this? $15 dollars for a goddamn piecemeal patchjob with a coat of shiny HD glossed over sprites that have been in use since fucking 1993?!
I repeat: Strike two, Konami. Do not fuck up again. If Lords of Shadow is bad, I'm done with you, and not JUST Castlevania.
