It does. Though not X68K -- the options for Chronicles music are Chronicles (the live instrumentation versions arranged specifically for the PSP game), Complete (the 2001 Windows version), and PC-88 (the original 1987-1988 soundtrack).

PC-88 works for me! Complete is great too, and I'm sure Chronicles is excellent, but I do have a soft spot for classic PC/console synth.

I think I would actually cry if Sora no Kiseki SC doesn't see an English translation I don't know if I'd cry, but I would probably feel a dark void somewhere in my soul if that happened.

That's excellent news about SC. Of course, that still leaves The Third and Zero no Kiseki... Playing Oath right now, and Gyalva is totally destroying me. Chester kicked my butt like 15 times too, before I finally beat him. Seems like PSP controls might be at least partially to blame? I've noticed several times where I pressed the jump button and nothing happened. I'm also kind of iffy on the default mapping of magic to square, sword to x, and jump to circle. It makes it basically impossible to charge your magic and jump at the same time. Especially if you want to swing your sword at the same time. Been thinking about remapping magic to the L or R button, but haven't done it just yet. EDIT: Got him. It helped a lot after I realized you have to actually use the medicine that you find right before you fight him, and that gives you the ability to dash. Kind of weird that they make you go in and use it from the item menu, rather than just giving you the ability, but I guess it's so the hardcore players can avoid gaining the ability if they want.

Yeah, the default mapping seemed strange to me... the first thing I did was map X to jump, square to attack, and circle to magic. It helps enormously.

Well, I've played through probably half the game already like this. I know Oath's a lot shorter than Ys Seven (which I still haven't finished yet!). It'd probably just screw me up to try to switch control schemes now.
It's kind of interesting to see how much younger Dogi and Adol look in this game vs. Seven. Part of that's due to the differing art styles, but I'm sure it's also intentional. Adol's still pretty green at this point in the Ys chronology.

Argh, got my copy yesterday but Amazon packed it in a freaking envelope and the box is crushed, so I'll have to wait for the replacement.

That's how I set it up on the PC version, yeah. X - Jump, Square - Attack, Circle - Magic, Triangle - Boost.

Oh. My. God."Adol, I'll crush your wall anytime!" Also: "I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddlesome kids and your Dogi!"

So I hate to be an asshole, but I pirated the game and beat it on Hard over the weekend. It was also really awesome because my friend was playing through 7 at the same time, so it was just nonstop action. I really do want to buy this and 7, and since Christmas is coming up maybe I could just ask for those since really there isn't a whole lot left coming out this year.
As for the actual game, I liked it a lot. I got so incredibly mad during at least half of the boss fights and all the bullshit some of them do. I did find about 2/3 of the way through that upgrading your equipment the default two times actually helps a LOT. I also had to grind out one extra level for the final boss, because he was just too damn brutal. After beating the whole thing on Hard, I tried out Boss Rush on Normal and was blown away at how easy everything was. I might try playing on Inferno, and I'll definitely try to beat that first extra boss fight. But seriously, this and Ys 7 are at the very top of my purchase list.

Well, you make a good case for piracy, at least. Can't say I approve, but I'm glad you enjoyed the game and will most likely be purchasing it in the future. (:

Yeah, way to be a dick when people here actually worked on the game so you could play it.

Yeah, way to be a dick when people here actually worked on the game so you could play it. But he just said he planned to buy it. It doesn't help much that these games don't tend to have playable demos.
