I've never played a Duke Nukem game. Probably a small heresy around here, at least. However, if I can still press left to beer, I would definitely try it. I do like me some crude humor and explosions.

I find the idea of the character being "relevant" a bit funny, as Duke went from a generic platform hero, into a parody of a macho action movie hero (while still being pretty cool in his own right).
Given that people still make action movies and we still play games about marines and soldiers, i'd say he is very relevant.
Anyway, I am looking forward to this myself.

He'll need to shave his head first though.

I bet that guy who preordered DNF back in 2001 must either be jumping for joy or flipping his shit (dunno if he refunded it after the "cancellation" news), lol.
Other than that, I don't have much to say except this also already has my money.

However, if I can still press left to beer, I would definitely try it. I do like me some crude humor and explosions. You got the right idea. Who cares if it's "relevant?" When did it become necessary for games to be "relevant?" I thought the point of the gaming medium was to entertain? To dispense fun? If I'm having fun, I don't care if it's relevant, elegant, or neanderthalic. I'm having fun, and that would mean the game has succeeded. You've put into words everything I feel about people talking about stuff being 'relevant'. The point I was clumsily grasping at with my first post more than anything was just to satirize the whole idea of 'relevancy' in gaming.

If the Duke doesn't get to throw feces at bald marines (figuratively speaking, although literally wouldn't be too bad, either) at least a little bit, I'll be minorly disappointed.

I'd say Duke is completely irrelevant now. Not the end of the world is someone thinks otherwise, though.

I would enjoy an HD remake of the original Duke Nukem 1 and 2 to go along with the release.

Even thought I personally find FPS really boring (even Metroid Prime) I will definitely make an exeption for Duke Nukem Forver since Duke has a pretty cool attitude that made him so popular and, of course, he is one of the manliest main characters even appeared on videogame. Note that I have never played any older Duke Nukem (not even 3D). The point is, I hope it will be released in May as it's mentioned on the trailer and will not have ANOTHER freaking delay.

He ain't afraid of no Quake... Despite my earlier dubiousness about how well this game will fare, I do seriously hope the developers will use Duke to get in at least one good shot directed towards Tom Clancy's Call of Halo Black Ops 4: Bad Company.

Not too many talk about it, for some reason, but it's a really good 2.5D platformer that basically plays like Duke Nukem 3D in a side-scrolling view. It's on XBOX Live Arcade and PC, too. If the Duke doesn't get to throw feces at bald marines (figuratively speaking, although literally wouldn't be too bad, either) at least a little bit, I'll be minorly disappointed. I'm hoping you'll find Marcus Fenix in a secret area somewhere lying dead of a steroid overdose, and then Duke would say something like "That guy always grinded my gears!"

Bob, this is honestly the best thing I've read this day and will likely ever read this week. You win at least one-and-a-half Internets. ;D

I would enjoy an HD remake of the original Duke Nukem 1 and 2 to go along with the release. That'd be awesome alone for having DN2 in a tolerable framerate.

I recently played DN2 in DOSbox, and re-discovered this very issue. I swear the framerate was never that bad when I was younger. It's almost insufferable, which is a shame, cause it's still a fantastic run 'n' gun. Even Hocus Pocus has a better framerate, which is strange, because that was a game that always seems to have a really low framerate to me, even back then.

That is true, it is funny how it never bothered me when I was younger. Of course, waiting for it to load on my 386 never bothered me much either!
HD remix versions of DN 1 and 2 with all the shareware levels and the best of the registered levels would be awesome. The registered levels were always a little disappointing since they re-used a lot of the game backgrounds.
If you've never played Duke 3D though, you just need to do it at least once. Its a little piece of PC gaming history if you ask me.
