[...] sure, it is the best-selling console of all time despite the inferior technology and all the arm swinging gimmick deal, but do any of us still turn it on? Does anyone enjoy "Motion Controls Yay®!!!"? Not really. Well... maybe one day I'll buy Muramasa..., but that's it. Motion controls are basically the entire "thing" about the Wii. The 3DS still has being a traditional handheld console to fall back on, just with a 3D screen, whether you love or hate it-- I know when trying it out with the 3D on MAX (having suffered no headaches or anything at all) I certainly did. Nope.jpg The iPhone has only has a port of the original SFIV with only a couple characters from the game and extremely downgraded graphics. You're comparing that to a 1:1 port of SSFIV with extras on a console with buttons and a analog pad (a very smooth feeling one I might add.) I won't be able to get it at launch but out of the lineup I'd like to pick up SSFIV, Pilotwings Resort, Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, and maybe Ridge Racer.

I have a question: does the analog nub work with DS games or only 3DS games?

It works with DS games.
Mind you, they can't retroactively give you analogue controls for obvious reasons, but you can use it.

Right, and DS games that were designed to simulate analog control on the D-pad (like Mario 64 and Mario Kart DS) feel fantastic on the analog slider.

Can the 3DS play DS games online? I'm not particularly excited about the launch titles save Ghost recon and monkey ball but I wouldnt mind picking one up early if i could play my DS games online, but it seems unlikely that emulated games (emulated on the 3ds using perfectly legal build in means) wi fi functionality would work. If one of you could test that it would be much appreciated.

It can. The 3DS has two wi-fi control panels: a new one for 3DS games, and one that is taken directly from the DS firmware for managing DS wi-fi.

I'll be picking up mine on Friday (Went 15 minutes too late to the bank on Saturday to get enough money) and my first game is going to be the only worthwhile one available at launch...Professor Layton 5. Lucky me, being in China for the next months.

I'll probably have one sometime the month after next. Maybe. It still has no games at all that even slightly interest me :S

Got mine on Friday and I'm really amazed by the 3D effects. As for playing DS games, i usually don't like upscaling, but at least for the 3D games it doesn't look bad, and Metroid Prime felt very natural using the slidepad. I didn't even noticed at first, that i was playing with a remapped D-Pad Too bad i have got Mario64 only on my M3 ^^' I'd love to play it on the 3DS

Thinking about getting one after the first price drop, although I'll probably just use it to catch up on DS games for a year or so, as I haven't seen many interesting games so far, safe for Kid Icarus, maybe.

Yeah, of the launch lineup, I'm so far only seriously interested in Ghost Recon, as it's designed by Julian Gollop, the creator of the X-COM series.

In case no one knows, you can play DS games in their normal screen size by holding Start + Select while starting a game.

I got mine thanks to the info provided here, like the others basically I am just enjoying the new controls for my existing DS games, Also it seems to charm the shit out of anyone who looks at it so hopefully will drum up some interest. PS0 with analog stick + alittle washed out colors > PS0 with a regular DSI

I'm going to repost what I put on another forum:
Finally saw the 3DS. I couldn't play it because the asshole in the store didn't want to take it out the display window.
Thankfully, it was on and SF4 was playing. I saw a battle and holy dung guys, the glassless 3D is fo'real. I could clearly distinguish the foreground from the middleground and background! Even though I could understand what Uncle Miyamoto has been saying about the 3D depth effect, I finally was able to experience it.
I had no trouble adjusting to the 3D screen and I felt I had a pretty ample "sweet spot" because I didn't see any distortion when I moved from side to side.
With the 3D on though, the stages in SF4 now look kind of empty and fake. It's like the fighters are in a theater stage in the front and the background is made of cardboard and fake water.

Sounds like Street Fighter to me! Zing! Played the 3DS on our demo unit. I like how you can turn the 3D off, in case it starts hurting your eyes for whatever reason. I'm not impressed by the 3DS, though, by any means. Maybe the inevitable next iteration of the system will impress me enough to purchase it.
