I wonder if Capcom will put together a Mega Man 11? I really don't think 10 is as bad as a lot of people say it is. And for that matter, I can say the same thing about 4, 5, and 6. 10 was alright, but I would much rather have a Mega Man X9, with SNES style graphics and music!

I'd bet money that you'll see Mega Man 11 - it's so bloody cheap to do and will make a decent profit- so that's an instant yes for Capcom. This here...well, I get the impression Capcom didn't exactly know what they were doing with it...and then you have the generally unenthusiastic fan response- why sink more cash into it?

Of the X series, I've only played 1-3 on the SNES. They're all good games.
I haven't played it, but I heard that 6 is often considered the worst in the X series.

Good. This game was probably going to suck hard.

The only thing that interested me about this is that you could play as the US boxart Mega Man. Otherwise, I would have gotten MM: Powered Up instead.

This honestly doesn't bother me. It didn't seem like they really knew what they were doing with the game anyway. Seemed more like a loosely organized smattering of ideas more than a tangible game.

I kinda look forward to Asura's Wrath myself.

And Capcom's MM2 fanwankery really shone through MMU. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but enough already. It's still a bit of a shame, as Capcom seems to be going down the Konami pipe of only publishing mediocre Western developed spinoffs of series with much better entries. This being their new direction, I'm not gonna hold my breath for MML3 ever seeing the light of day. Capcom, to quote RE1, you are merely a shadow of your former selves. Get it the fuck together already!

I never really cared about Mega Man Universe (like others, the premise seemed vague and I never really understood what exactly the game would be like), but this worries me because the cancellation of this makes it seem to me that Mega Man Legends 3 not being greenlit will be much more likely to happen. I really wonder what the hell is up with companies like Capcom today. I can't recall a single Capcom game in the last few years outside of Resident Evil 5 or Monster Hunter (which I've not really played) that was actually developed by Capcom.

Wow so much hate for Capcom in this thread, I am amazed and disappointed. Okay they outsource, so do Sega, Konami, Nintendo, and most other Japanese developers. Did everyone forget Street Fighter 4, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Okamiden? Capcom delivers good games for the most part. Let's see their upcoming games like Tekken vs. Street Fighter and the 3rd Strike remake before throwing the company into the fanboy bonfire.
I don't understand the disappointment in Mega Man Universe's cancellation, all fans had seen were a few trailers about "shitty box art" Mega Man and LBP level design. It looked like no big loss to me. Maybe the dev team had little design direction after Inafune left Capcom, and the project went nowhere. but I think the funds will go to a better place like Asura's Wrath or Mega Man Legends 3.
Also for everyone whining about the milking DLC, simply don't buy it. No one is forcing you to own extra characters or costumes. I miss the good old days of unlocking shit too, but we live in a new era...get over it.

Capcom delivers good games for the most part. Bullshit. Maybe "delivered" mostly good games, but they've really gone down the toilet - there's no way present tense works in that sentence. Resident Evil 5 was incredibly disappointing and critics almost unanimously disagreed on it being inferior to its predecessor. Both Lost Planet games were underwhelming and performed well under expectations and were met with mediocre reviews. Dark Void was hailed as incredibly mediocre and performed very poorly. Devil May Cry 4 was considered a weak sequel to DMC3, and the new reboot (which has actually been decided to be a fucking background story, all the more infuriating) is causing outrage among the few loyal Capcom fans left, as well as old fans of the series. Bionic Commando: Rearmed kicked ass, but BC:R2 has been widely criticized as incredibly disappointing. Retro revivals they've done like 1942: Joint Strike and Commando 3 have also been widely criticized as being mediocre cash-ins. Mega Man 9 was well-received, but 10 was criticized as mediocre and samey. I mean, I guess there's Dead Rising, which is really mediocre in retrospect and was mostly just popular because of its timing. They didn't even care enough about the sequel to give it a proper in-house treatment and it wasn't as well-received. Edit: Oh, yeah, and fighting games like SFIV and MvC3. I guess those are doing pretty well! But I'm going to be pretty shocked if they don't milk them back to the point of them going dry, again. Yeah, it's called an era of Western dominance in game sales... Get over it. Seriously, though, Japan is flailing to keep up with the other side of the pond and companies like Bandai-Namco, Sammy-Sega and Square-Enix have reported huge losses (notice how they're all companies that have had to merge to keep up), all of those three as well as Capcom and Konami have also been trying desperately to copy Western games and appeal to Western tastes, in most cases failing. Pretty much every big name in Japan right now is dead to me. At least we've still got those medium-sized guys like From Software and Atlus to continue making quality titles.

Somehow you fail to elaborate much on the awesome games I mentioned aside from saying they are "milking the fighting genre too much", but regarding a few you mentioned:
Resident Evil 5 is not the horrible game everyone makes it out to be: solid graphics, cool story, and descent game play should at least give this title a 7 out of 10.
Dark Void sucked, but Dark Void Zero was awesome. Look it up.
Devil May Cry 4 is another game that was not bad, it just wasn't the breath of fresh air that some people wanted. The 5th DMC does look awful though, can't argue with that.
Mega Man 10 is really great, I don't know where retro fans were disappointed.
Dead Rising 1 and 2 are great takes on the zombie genre, and most fans actually liked the second game too.
Japanese developers are having a hard time, but Capcom and Konami have stayed afloat. My only complaint is no new IPs but the economy is hard especially in the wake of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Also you say everyone in Japan is dead to you...does this include Falcom, Vanillaware, and Cyber Connect 2? They still make great games.

Given the massive costs involved in obtaining all the MvC3 DLC, and just how many version of SFIV there are, I'd say the milking process is already in full swing. We'll see how long it lasts until the well runs dry!

I actually saw the playable build of MMU at the NYCC last year, and nothing about it seemed even remotely interesting or worthwhile. So, I don't consider its cancellation to be a particularly large loss.

I haven't played the main game of Dead Rising 2 yet, but Case Zero was awesome. It seemed to fix the complaints I had with the first game, like with the aiming controls and survivor AI.
I forgot about Okamiden, but I've never really been interested in the Okami series personally. And fighting games are one of my least favorite genres, so I don't care about that at all. Also, wasn't Street Fighter IV (at least co-)developed by a company called DIMPS?
