@ Sketcz: Sure, no harm meant. @ wyrdwad: That is seriously hilarious. I can't stand Molyneux and his games ever since the past-Dungeon Keeper times and that twitter account has some stuff that perfectly hits the right spot for me. Though some of those ideas actually sound great to me.

I would've named my idea "Pariah", but some jackass already used that title for a first-person shooter. Basically, you're a humanoid alien life-form and literally EVERYBODY--women, children, old people, animals--is trying to kill you. Well, a nice little talk doesn't work, so naturally...you just kill every damn living thing in sight, which isn't too hard given that everybody's trying to kill you. Perfect game for the most paranoid of people (who hopefully, won't repeat what they see in games as the damn parent groups expect them to).

That sounds exactly like the Destroy All Humans franchise.

In a way, but the killing part is as convenient as it's made out to be. You only really have a few arm-blade weapons on your end and when it gets to the point where even old ladies are hobbling up to you to crack your skull with their walkers and toddlers wriggling out of strollers to bite you.

This is relevant to this topic: twitter.com/#!/petermolydeux Fake Peter Molyneux Twitter account. Some of the funniest stuff I've read in a long time, and definitely some "god-awful game ideas" in the mix -- though in keeping with the real Peter Molyneux, a lot of them are so god-awful, they're kind of brilliant, and I would be legitimately interested in seeing some of them come to pass. (: Either way, though, it's a really good read. Prepare for awesomeness. (: -Tom I second this post. One of the best Twitter accounts worth following. Some of them are genuinely quite good though!

What the fuck? I'm looking at this Twitter page and going "I would unironically play and enjoy this" at nearly everything. Should I feel bad? lol

You say that now Kitten but ol' Peter would even manage to do a half baked game for a one sentence concept

A lot of those sound really cool if pulled off right. The sand castle one sounds particularly cool. And really, the idea of connecting character stats to a city building side game would be an interesting concept. Like Act Raiser or Dark Cloud, only how you build the cities would directly effect your character rather than just the story. The one about stealing frames frames to use for yourself reminds me quite a bit of Sonic Battle's Emeril, too. I'd argue the one about the environment telling the story at the same time as the core game was for the most part done in Flower, though. Seriously, for a joke account, there are some cool ideas there among the more obvious jabs.

My favourite was the "make enemies in an action game, and they go kill your star player in Madden" (or something along that line) one.

I've been thinking of ideas for the gritty, photo-realistic 2D reboot of Mega Man earlier. Mostly plot-related:
-It is 20XX. Robots are now a critical source of manual labor for mankind. Some are happy to be of service, and others are highly displeased being essentially born for slave labor. -Rock Johnson is a cop on a mission for revenge. His partner, Bo "Blues" Brothers, was murdered chasing down a renegade robot. When Rock is mortally wounded tracking down the robo-rat who aced his best pal, he is unwillingly taken as a test subject for the government's secret "Mega Man" cyborg resurrection project for wounded soldiers. -Police Chief Thomas Light is constantly on Rock's case for being a loose cannon, but admits that he gets the job done. -Evangelical born-again robotics specialist Dr. Albert W. Wily, formerly one of the founders of the government's "Mega Man" project, is convinced that robots are God's archangels, and that their abuse at the hands of mankind is heresy. Wily forms an elaborate crime syndicate in Monsteropolis, New York, recruiting disillusioned and abandoned robots to serve in his Holy Circle of Wily Numbers.

I'm not gonna lie, this is hilariously awesome. Can I get ridiculous cussing similar to Cyber City Oedo along with this?

After reading about 3dfx's attempt to "reboot" Splatterhouse (which I posted a couple pages back), I came up with these other franchise reboots. Enjoy!
Castlevania (2010)
Genre: FPS
Story: Somehow being exposed to Dracula's curse made Simon Belmont immortal. We don't know exactly how yet, but it happened, so just accept it. The year is now 1994, and Simon is now a member of the NYPD (after immigrating to the USA sometime in the 1800s). Corruption runs rampant, and he must singlehandledly take down a major crime syndicate that is threatening to overtake all of New York City while dealing with the corrupt cops scheming to... "take care" of him. Little does Simon know, but the boss of the syndicate is an alien and wants to end all life on Earth! ...or it wants to turn the planet into its own personal harem. We haven't decided yet.
Enemies: thugs, drug dealers, pimps, corrupt cops and "Mr. Syndicate Boss". No enemies from the previous Castlevania games appear, except for in the occasional, random flashback.
Weaponry: Guns, and lots of them. Simon left the Vampire Killer back in the Old Country a long time ago. There's also some heavy artillery involved too.
Metroid (2011)
Genre: Racing sim/RPG
Story: Samus Aran's ship was sucked back into the late 20th century via a rip in space (unoriginal, you say? Fine, YOU come up with a better way to drop her into our ridiculous storyline). With no way to repair her ship, and not wanting to upset the timeline - but still needing to survive - Samus became a NASCAR driver and eventually won the Daytona 500. However, crooked officials are trying to strip her of her title, and obsessed fans are just trying to strip her, period. Samus must continue to compete in various races all across the U.S. while trying to take down the crooked officials and avoid (or kill) her obsessed fans. Will she ever get back to the year 20Xwhatever?
Enemies: Crooked officials, obsessed fans, competing drivers. No enemies from the previous Metroid games appear, except in the occasional dream sequence.
Weapons: Shotguns, knives, and various pistols. No weaponry from the previous Metroid games are used, as they might tip off people that she's not from their time period. She can't use her suit either for the same reason.
Contra (2012)
Genre: Hentai rape dating sim
Story: Bill Rizer, having survived the chaos of Contra: Shattered Soldier somehow, now enrolls in community college, where he must attempt to hook up with some of the most eligible ladies on campus. Whipping out his war medals and big-ass machine guns won't do it alone... Bill must also use finesse, stealth and even the occasional "roofie" to get the girls in bed. But keep an eye on your "Stud Meter" - and watch out for those campus cops!
Enemies: Campus cops, nosy students and some other enemies that are TBD. No enemies from previous Contra games appear, except while Bill is telling the occasional war story to impress the ladies.
Weaponry: Charm, roofies, the occasional alien tentacle left over from the Alien Wars and "Lil' Billy". No weaponry from the previous Contra games are needed, although we've been discussing the possibilities of incorporating a "Spread 'em and eat 'em" gun. Besides the "Spread 'em and eat 'em" gun, there was going to be a "Sudden Interest In Botany" gun, but it apparently violated the Geneva Convention.
It'll be available as an Easter Egg.
