Jesus, just found out about this yesterday. Gonna go change my cc, better safe than sorry. After this and how they treated me with the YLOD I'm done with Sony. I'll just stick with Nintendo and Microsoft.

I'm not the kind of person who's sue happy or likes when people are sue happy, but I think this is karma for Sony. Them getting in major trouble is the only way they'd take responsibility.

As I've said on other sites, it is a major fail on Sony's part and they're going to have make up big time in order to win back their consumers trust. I hope atleast someone gets the sack for this muck up and a half.

But Sony has been really callous about the YLOD stuff lately among other things. I could see Nintendo acting the same way Sony is, if they actually had a viable online system and it got hacked (big "if" there). Sad when the evil MS empire is the most reliable, huh? EDIT: I guess a lot of my nintendo hate comes from the early 90's when they were on top of the console world, and were basically acting in an arrogant manner like Sony was nowadays. Then again, my NES and SNES still work. BTW, welcome back to the board!

I actually have a friend who is probably the only person in the world who's Wii died and Nintendo was apparently pretty decent about it.

Sony needs a swift kick in the ass for this colossal screwup. It needs to get Sony to take account security more seriously, and it needs to convince them to treat their customers more like actual human beings. But shut them down? No. Also: DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED

Cancelled my credit card, just to be on the safe side. The process itself was easy enough, but damn. I used that card for everything. It's going to be a real pain in the ass to switch everything around.
Still, all things considered, I'd say an RROD is a much bigger annoyance than any of this.

I did the same this morning after my brother told me about this bullshit. It wasn't too hard but it's still an annoyance to deal with when you have other stuff on your plate. I hate seeing the lawyers get richer, but I'm hoping a somewhat-valid class-action suit surfaces. Fuck Sony.

Still, all things considered, I'd say an RROD is a much bigger annoyance than any of this. Which is less of an annoyance than YLOD. Microsoft is so far in Wefuckedupsville that they fix that stuff for free. People can say all they want that the YLOD isn't as much of a problem as RLOD since it happens less. Until, of course, it happens to your ps3 and you have to shell out $150 no matter what for a refurb, with numerous accounts of those failing again. YLOD is by far the worst thing to deal with. I tried just using my first controller from that system for my newer one, but then that ended up crapping out on me too. I tried to have them fix it but they just wouldn't. They just wouldn't. It was part of a defective system and they'd have to fix the whole system for $150 to care at all about the controller. Jeez. It's just a controller, just fix it separately and charge me for it. But no, they wouldn't.

I'm still waiting...I guess by "valid" I meant that they got to the point that they were mailing out fliers ;p.
