People seem to forget the USSR under Stalin were as bad, if not, worse but I love how Wolfenstein and Bloodrayne interpret the Nazis as if on the boundaries of making cyborg soldiers or some crazy crap like that lol.

I'm not sure Robert meant LITERALLY innocent. I think we can all agree that in many matters ignorance isn't an excuse and ignorance among the common German army grunt was probably pretty willful after a certain point... it'd be hard to miss the pogroms going on in the very streets of Berlin and other major cities.
BUT. The average German citizen of the time was probably not a ravening murderer and these are the folks that made up the regular German army. Taken out of the context of that time and place if you sat him down and said 'exterminating six million jews is the answer?' he'd probably not have agreed with that. In the same way a typical young Dad who just enlisted with the Imperial Forces of Japan would probably not have vigorously given the go ahead for slavery and experimentation in Manchuria.
I haven't seen anyone say on here that Nazism ISN'T an evil, apart from Chucat's white supremacist quotes, but I can understand someone pointing out the faceless evil goon aspect of Nazis as they are portrayed nowadays. Even the new Captain America movie is going to focus on Hydra (as a tech arm of the Nazis) more than literal Nazism... and it doesn't get much more fist in the face of Hitler than Captain America is traditionally. We'll see how 'downplayed the Nazi angle' is when the film releases. I think what most game designers are throwing at us is the look and mentality of the SS-- which was pretty much EXACTLY the evil that embodies Nazi action. Creators sub in the SS outlook for pretty much every German soldier, even where they make a visual distinction.
There are occasional more speculative films that show a more nuanced view of German Army regulars in WW2 that STILL are not sympathetic towards Nazi ideals. Games haven't really managed that.
(PS-- I know the quotes are for yucks Chucat, you aren't a Nazi!)

I really liked the most recent Wolfenstein and how it portrayed Nazis as unforgivably evil, faceless bad guys, but had a German resistance going on to differentiate Nazis from average Germans.
It's obviously really inaccurate, but I like the portrayal of Nazis as unanimously evil bad dudes.

Stormfront I like silly stuff with Nazis, like Wolfenstein 3D, but I can appreciate wanting to have a more realistic depiction of them as well. It's entirely possible to do so without glorifying Nazism in any way.

It's worth mentioning that Atlus JP outright edited Persona 2 PSP to remove the swastikas from the Last Battalion's banners, and edited Hitler's face to be wearing shades. Pimp shades, but still. You can't be serious. Dead serious. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_OFx-p2W4c

You know, I'm pretty disappointed that they did that. If they already did it, they could do it again. Come on, Atlus. Censorship sucks.
On the other hand though, those are some amazing shades. I daresay he actually looks great in them, as odd as it is to say. This makes up for it just about.
(This is not me condoning anything but cool shades. Do not take this wrong)

The Nazi symbols weren't obvious anyway, I wouldn't call it censorship.

I brought my internet connection to a snail's pace by activating my university's VPN client just so I could access youtube for this and wow, was it worth it. Only the aforementioned Kanye shades could possibly best that.
