Why's everybody picking on the 3DS nowadays? I've had one since day one and I'm really pleased with it.

Yeah, it's kind of surprising given how excited people were right after E3 last year.

It's not surprising at all. Humans in general (and gamers in particular), are a fickle lot with short memories. And the 3DS doesn't have any good games of its own yet, and plays DS games with washed out colors. In a year or two, things will probably look a lot different.

3D is one of those things that has an incredibly short hype life. Everybody flips out about it and then gets sick of it very, very quickly.

There's that too. I still think the 3DS will probably be a successful system in the long run, but I don't think the 3D will likely be a big factor in that.

Hold Start + Select before starting a game to play it in its original resolution.

Yeah OK the 3DS won't be big because of it's main feature, extensively advertised. It will ultimately be up to how devs use it. For E3 I'm looking forward to mainly Project Café and NGP ( or is it PS Vita?) stuff, to see what kind of games they bring. I'm expecting surprises out of both, but any ones outside those would be cool too, and of course the refreshers on cool games I might have forgotten about.

I want a new proper Castlevania, but I'm guessing Konami will only show that delayed Lords of Shadow DLC, a 3DS port of the original NES Vania with 3D effects, and the PSN version of Harmony of Despair. I'm bored already.
Other than that, I'm also expecting Sony to show a significant amount of gameplay from The Last Guardian. Which I'm looking forward to. But yeah, E3 2011 should belong to Nintendo and the project cafe. Also, we need to see LOTS of upcoming 3DS games, cause it's not looking so hot right now.

I hope they announce a new Contra or Hard Corps game for XBLA/PSN.

oh, OKAY
now that it's taken me a couple of hours, i'm finally caught up 'enough'' on what's going on in the industry to post some of what i may actually be looking forward to at I did find out that the game I'm probably looking forward to the most (that would be Devils Third) may not be at E3, but I'll have to be at TGS
DMC: i'd almost completely forgotten about this game recently, I hope we'll get to see if the developers are capable of sticking to the high standards of the Devil May Cry series' mechanics, since last year all we got was that terrible trailer.
Asuras Wrath: yeah, bigtime
Anarchy Reigns: everytime platinum makes a game it's pretty much amazing and standout, so i'm sure this will be no different whatsoever
Deus Ex: Human Revolution: While i've never beaten it, I loved the first Deus Ex and the sequel seems like it's in line to impress even more at Dark Souls : I've never played Demons Souls but always wanted to, and Dark Souls looks to be taking what was established in it even further in the right direction.
The Darkness 2: I know there's a gameplay trailer and everything up for it, but I haven't really been arsed enough to check it out. I'm sure there will be even more from it at E3
Prey 2: Open world bounty hunting game takes place on an alien world this is like my childhood dream
Gotham City Impostors: I just come on what is even what are you doing dc

There's a difference between what I want and what I anticipate. I want a Castlevania / Silent Hill / Metal Gear / Suikoden game that doesn't suck. I anticipate the return of Samael before any of that ever happens.

Well, yeah, I can definitely agree with you there on the different between wanting and anticipating. I /want/ a bunch of 'big shot' developers to go back to churning out original IP's, instead of this platform of sequential we get every year
Big Developers = ! = Original IP is how we got stuff like Devil May Cry and Boktai, Don't forget!
