The principal entries in the MGS series have all been initially released on Sony platforms. I can sympathize with longshanks on this point. I'd really prefer to get these remakes on the PS3, but my primary profile is on my 360.

I was. It isn't stupid that there's a remake for the PS3. Problem is you can also play it on the NGP/Vita/PSP2, with high res graphics. So not only did Konami downgrade the 3DS version (it looks worse now), but they announce another portable version that looks better before the lesser one is released? It's like they're almost rooting for the 3DS version to fail so that they have an excuse to not make anymore MGS games for the 3DS and just dump them all on the PSP2. According to the official specifications of the HD collection, only Peace Walker can be transferred (or "transfarred" if you prefer Kojima Productions' pretentious terminology) to the PSP. MGS2 and MGS3 will only be playable on home consoles. It seems the compilation will be different in Japan. Peace Walker will be sold separately, while the MGS2/3 compilation will come with a free download for the PSN version of MGS1. www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/e3_2011/jp/If you want to get technical, MSX was more of a hardware standard than a console manufactured by one company. In fact, Sony actually produced their own MSX computers along with other companies like Toshiba and Goldstar. I'm amused at how they're releasing all the MGS games from the previous generation, while leaving out Portable Ops.

I only have three things to say about Konami's conference:
1. Lol the best announcements were compilations of old games 2. If the new Contra is a Gears of War clone with QTE mania, someone at Konami's getting their skull caved in. 3. NeverDead actually looks kinda fun.

Nobody knows what the new Contra will be like. Everyone is speculating it will be a 3D reboot like Lords of Shadows. I'll bet it will be an HD compilation of Legacy of War and C: The Contra Adventure. NeverDead is actually produced by Shinta Nojiri, the guy who did Metal Gear GB and the Acid games.

Lolz, if it were cheap enough (less than 10 dollars) I'd buy that compilation. Still expecting only bad things to come of the new Contra, but only time will tell which Afghanistan-based developer Konami will choose, so... On a similar note, I'm kind of eager to see how much of a train wreck DmC will be (that is, if they actually show it). Also really want to see Resident Evil: Revelations, not only because I'm frothing at the mouth for an ACTUAL horror game but also because I don't have the courage to keep looking at MML3 info. It's sort of like the awful heartbreak at seeing a favorite pet who is going to be put down in spite of any protest you make; I'm afraid of getting any more attached to it lest Capcom take it out back with a shotgun. Also, dat Shadows of the Damned.

Even though I've almost entirely sworn off Konami (much like I have Activision), I'm actually morbidly curious if they're going to announce anything regarding Castlevania. Knowing them, though, it'll likely be something like Castlevania Puzzle getting ported to PSP Minis or some shit.

I didn't see the conference, but I don't know where people are getting "Gears of War with QTEs" from. This isn't the first time I've read that, and no news article I've read about the new Contra mentions anything of the sort. What's the cause for this rumor?

Also, dat Shadows of the Damned. Will that make an entry on E3? It's released this month, 21th. GHM probably brings Codename D, Sine Mora and the unnanounced project that's going to be published by Kadokawa.

It's mostly fear of whoever they decide to farm Contra out to. Lords of Shadow was derivative of almost everything except Castlevania, and as they said they seek to do something similar with Contra, well, I'm not too optimistic. There's no actual footage yet though. It's speculation.

Wow, MS pretty much repeated last year. At least they didn't bribe the audience this time. About the only good thing they announced was the Live TV and Youtube support, but they'll probably use that to jack up Live subscription prices again.
I mean, it was great if you're a casual gamer and own a Kinect or whatever, but it was a pretty lame showing.

That was far and away the worst E3 presentationI have ever seen. The lack of exclusives and focus on Kinect was just horrible.

I dunno but I've always seen that as the point of these trade shows -- show off the tech and software using it that'll appeal to the largest audience.
It's not like I bother to follow E3 anyway because the interesting stuff is usually too far off anyway and will have more announcements/previews/demos much sooner to their releases. Also everyone else will be abuzz about it.

The summer of Live Arcade line up for this year is terrible I mean how the hell did Titles like Radiant Silver Gun and Guadian Hero's not make it in there but the Sequel to Toy Soldier's and a Kinect only Title did.
