Is it true what I read about Capcom asking fans to hold up $10 and $20 bills to prove their support for Darkstalkers during Comicon?

What's this about Dan? Hibiki? What's happening to my Dan?

This is fucking baffling. Stupefying. Both sentences. Not only are fans willing to LITERALLY offer up money, the author apparently thought it fit to frame it as some kind of grand gesture by the fans to show their devotion. What kind of braindead pigshit would look at this and thi-- oh right destructoid

Can you imagine any serious corporation asking fans to hold up $10 bills to show support? "We sorta want to release a successor to the IPAD but I'm not convinced you guys really even want an IPAD2. Flash me some cash so I can be sure you guys are serious about this!"
Like a roomful of guys at a comic convention is any kind of indicator of demand???
It's way past unprofessional and enters the realm of outright contempt. I guess they thought it was cute?

It's the state of the union, I'm afraid. Game publishers are absolutely terrified of risk these days.

They wouldn't be so terrified of risk if they weren't pouring ostentatious amounts of money into games.

SO let me get this straight. At some trade show or something, Capcom displayed a poster stating "Darkstalkers are NOT DEAD" but have denied this to be a new game announcement and there seems to have been no further info forth coming.
How do we know this isn't just a way of announcing that UDON are releasing a new series of Darkstalker comics? Or that Capcom are licensing a series of action figures? or that the characters will be cameoing in a game, ala Morrigan in Cross Edge?
Methinks OP is just a bit premature to state in the thread title the there is a confirmed game when no info seems to support this, at least based on the links and what's been posted in the thread so far.
Just saying.

I'll be disappointed if the announcement was just for another shitty UDON comic.

They wouldn't be so terrified of risk if they weren't pouring ostentatious amounts of money into games. I'd say stuff like "ok. They've already thought this out, and it's probably just not financially viable to localize ace attorney investigations 2. " Then I look at shit they ARE funding like Boys Dont Cry: the movie the game and I just go berserk....

There is no justice in this world.

I don't think MML3's cancellation would have been nearly as painful if they weren't going full steam ahead with dogshit like DmC, Operation Raccoon City ("Yeah, we'll go back to zombies, but first you must become a dudebro military man like in every other game out there") and Asura's Wrath (which, in spite of the cool art style, looks like QTE Simulator: Capcom Edition).
