Successfully downloading, patching, burning, and getting SegaCD/PSX games to run on an emulator without having any prior knowledge on how to do any of this should be an achievement.

Yeah, because people should just do things blindly without consulting anything or anyone. God forbid that they use a manual or FAQ to make certain tasks easier. Next thing you know, kids are going to be studying to get good grades for their exams. Anyway, Fusion and Gens both run ISOs rather easily, as does ePSXe. The only thing you need are the BIOS for each platform, but that's a given for most disc-based platforms. I don't have any experiences with patching CD-ROM based games, but I imagined it's not so different from patching a regular ROM image.

Protip: if you ever wonder (or or even care) why people react "negatively" to your posts like earlier in this thread, try being less arrogant and condescending when discussing the intricacies of what amounts to a kid's hobby.
Hey, you guys were thinking it too...

Hey, you guys were thinking it too... Et tu, Joestar? Actually, I was being facetious on purpose in my last post. If I'm going to have an "asshole" reputation in this forum, I might as well embrace it. I don't know, maybe I'm not considerate enough of the other posters' sensibilities. For God's sake, there's a nine-page thread of people here complaining about Capcom's cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3 with no attempt to rationalize the internal circumstances that led to the game's cancellation. I was actually going to let your post go (since I don't want the thread to derail any further), but on a serious note, what's wrong with discussing the intricacies of video games? You call them "kid's hobby" as if that's such a bad thing. People complain that video games are not being treated seriously and when someone comes along doing exactly just that, they're accused of being "too serious".

He called it a "kid's hobby" to make light of how pedantic and condescending you can come off to be over your interest.
Do not get me wrong for a second, I think this forum would lose something significant without you. You contribute a great deal, I learn a lot from you and I admire your dedication. But you could definitely do some work on how you speak to people. When this many people mention you've got a problem with coming off as rude/snobbish/condescending, you might indeed have a problem with it. THE SECRET IRC CABAL is in pretty unanimous agreement with this. I'm not saying you should change who you are or anything, but your phrasing could use a little work.
For example, in your first post, you could have acknowledged it was neat that someone else made a thread when you felt having posted them before got you ignored. It's little things like that. You instead (regardless of intention) came across as upset you didn't get noticed and were there "first." Anyway, just saying!

Hey, I didn't call you out in particular...Still, showing you have a sense of humor about it is definitely a good sign . If I have any constructive criticisms to get out in the open, it's just to be a little more laid back when it comes to details on things. To second kitten, you've got incredible knowledge about trivia and minutiae about different games, and I've learned a lot because of it. It's just that sometimes when you correct people (what made me think of this was a recent post where you replied to Kurt in a curt manner) it may be misconstrued as hostile; without body language it's hard or impossible to gauge whether people are kidding, serious, angry (actually that one's pretty easy to tell, just look for bad words), or whatever. At any rate, I didn't mean to turn this into a character assassination...if anything, everyone (myself included) needs to screen our posts and make sure we're respecting our fellow board members, especially with how negative things have been overall lately.

I think everybody involved in this thread has to think before they post. johnny2x4 wasn't the only one making posts that could be construed as insulting. Seems to me he's got a small group of people that are looking for offense in his posts, but I don't really care, you're all just imaginary internet people anyway.

Now that everyone's spoken their heart, we either find new things to say about Hideo Kojima's sketches, or we'll lose this thread.
Users that have crossed any lines either have been or will be notified.

Those plans are very intricate. I wish we got to see things like this more often. It'd be neat to see the differences between what was planned and the finished product.

I was surprised by his talent at drawing. Should have gone into that instead of making games!

Does anybody know what happened to the MGS2 design doc page? Some guy had a site for it a while ago, but it looks like the link is dead now.

Definately liking the design documents- echoing many here- it'd be nice to see more of this from other developers. Oh and there is so many instances of the pot calling the kettle black here but hey! Internet
