How do we go about song selection for tracks that are remixed and rearranged multiple times in the title's series? One of my choices is Big Blue, which has had multiple versions created across the F-Zero sequels and in Smash Bros. Melee. Likewise many of the Castlevania & Final Fantasy selections that have been chosen like CV's Bloody Tears and FF's Prelude. Do we just choose which game the song originated? Example:Super Mario 64's Bob-omb Battlefield - www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmP3UHXYi28Super Mario Galaxy 2's Nostalgic Fortress - www.youtube.com/watch?v=P29JNk7945kI'm asking since the rules seem to only specify songs in games that have had multiple ports rather than recurring anthems in a series' lifetime. |

I have no clue how I'm going to narrow down a top 5. Seems like an impossible task. And I don't want to hurt any of the songs' feelings :\ And how could this song not crack anyone else's top 100? |

Kurt - In my case, I have a song that originated on Kirby's Adventure (Butter Building), but I specifically like the version from Epic Yarn the most. Is it okay that I leave it that way?

What about original trailer music that doesn't appear in the game? Twilight Princess's, for example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNt1JAQk93kI don't recall this being in game, or at least as far as I made it. |

Your list doesn't include Vagrant Story. I'll be stopping by with a baseball bat. That reminds me of another project I wanted to do - to create an "essentials" collection from various composers/series. Like, if you were in charge of creating a single 80 minute CD (or maybe two of three) which tracks would you pick? This would make another interesting community project. I really do like the Vagrant Story soundtrack, although overall it's a little too dark and subdued for my taste. I've always looked at Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter as being a spiritual successor to that game, but doing most of it better, including the soundtrack, so overall I'd rather pick a track from that. |

My list still feels waaaaay to RPG-centric. I feel like I don't give a fair chance to, say, SHMUPS or fighting games. But honestly, it's really hard to rate "Red Wings" against "Guile's Theme."

Added in a slight modification - if you can't narrow down a Top 5 then you don't have to. You can still vote for up to 100 songs, but none of the songs will get extra points, if you find choosing them too stressful. Also remember that you don't need to pick 100 songs! Even just a couple is fine.
I'm also thinking of introducing a second tier once the first round is over. By virtue of the selection process, there's going to be a whole ton of songs with only a single vote. Depending on how long I want the full list to be, I think I'll have people vote on these remaining songs so they get some placement on the list.

Are you going to count statistics for an entire game? I see a lot of entries from NieR, but they aren't all the same song. Will you calculate stats for how many votes a particular game got total, or even a particular series?

Also, would anyone with actual talent be able to whip up a small image for the sidebar on the main page for this poll? The one I have now is literally the first thing that pops up in Google Image Search when you type "music". |
