People were reading magazines back in 2007? I was. IGN and the ilk hadn't really made it huge yet, and they didn't have as interesting coverage as some magazines I read did. Play was that one I got when I wanted to know about obscure shit and really Japanese stuff. They even had a Japanese gaming section that was pretty tight, reviewed a lot of games I'm still angry never got translated (like that rhythm RPG Square made).

After seeing Front Mission 3 on sale I am reminded that we don't have Front Mission 5 officially in English. I would love for them to remaster it. I did like Play Magazine for the same reason. Honestly, I never bought a video game magazine for the reviews.

Honestly, I never bought a video game magazine for the reviews. Their main features were sooooooooo good. The Persona 4 and Odin Sphere interviews were especially awesome, it's how I figured out how to use Odin Sphere's item system and got a hint at Persona's 4 larger themes on media.

People were reading magazines back in 2007? Yeah, my internet at my Dad's place was terrible, and my grandmother gets a ton of them, so I find myself very often reading them at her place, even today. But I think I was getting PSM, until like '09

As OMC would say, "how bizarre, how bizarre".

I would probably choose Gyruss on the Nes again for the 'renovation'.First of all, i'd give the whole new graphical overhaul to the game(although can't decide should it have some sort of borders like Tempest games etc. or be 'open space' like original),add at least 2 more ships(shield/speed type), the default one being most balanced and more weapon upgrades in general. Bigger planets(like Sun,Jupiter,Saturn) could have more warps to them instead of 3 for every single one,and their satellites act as a 'carriers' for side/secret missions.Would leave existing bonus stages,but might consider adding in-game shop to work in tandem with those,oh..and expand enemy variety even further,including bosses.

People were reading magazines back in 2007? Hey, I didn't give up on being a regular reader of Gameinformer until 2014 and even then I still grab the occasional issue as recently as last year's Dishonored 2 issue (but I'm probably done for good since I'm boycotting Gamestop over this "circle of life" bullshit.) And as far as 2007 goes EGM was still going strong as were quite a few gaming magazines, it wasn't until the 2010s did the bottom fall out under video game mags, how many are even left now? Anyway I'd love to see a from the ground up remake of Bioshock in the Unreal 4 engine complete with new areas, that recent "remastered" re-release was better than nothing but it was just a sprucing up. I also wish Capcom would pull a "REmake" for RE4 and give us a full graphical conversion, as impressive as that one looked at the time it's not aged too well.

As OMC would say, "how bizarre, how bizarre". Oh jeez! That quote hahaha! Remake wise- Dark Souls & Demon's Souls. Gimmie both in 60fps, for Demon's Souls update the item & equipment weights, streamline the weapon upgrades etc... and of course give us some improved ability to actually summon etc. I love both dearly but after Platinum'ing Demon's Souls once I can whole heartedly say it has rough edges needing smoothed out.

I would imagine it looking sort of like ' Bloodborne with modern firearms' if it came out this year for instance,i mean as a 'complete' remake;

I'd love two remakes of The Guardian Legend. One in a 16/32 bit style, with some more fleshed out story sequences. The other in full 3D with the gameplay being reminscent of Mega Man Legends and Star Fox and a more Metroidvania like progression through the overworld. The graphics would be cel shaded 3D and the charadesigns would be done by 90s Mika Akitaka, for both^^
Also I'd totally second a Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake remake. Seeing the Metal Gear D in full 3D would be so awesome

I know RE:Outbreak has a emulated server now, but a real remake will be perfect with all the support for multiplayer games.

There's an obscure indie FPS called "Pencil Whipped" that would really benefit from a full-fledged remake - the whole "paper-based" artstyle is interesting enough, but it suffers from muddy textures and unpleasant interface.
As for more "professional" games, there's Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman (I'm surprised there's no article about this game on HG101). It has unique premise and gameplay mechanics (something of a mix between Devil May Cry and God Hand, two games that came several years later) lots of humor, some really inventive setpieces, and fantastic soundtrack, but controls are kind of bad, and there's a lot of shortcomings and unpolished parts that come from limitations of the system. A lot of umrealised ambition was put into this game, and it was really ahead of its time - if it was made in PS2/PS3 era with a bit more time and budget put into it, it could have been at least a new sleeper hit.
