Today's run for Team Stupid is complete! Dear diary, today I woke up wedged in a ventilation shaft surrounded by food, booze, and drugs. Again. Also angry spider robots. I used the last of my bioelectric energy to run past them as fast as superhumanly possible, and managed to get away with only minor damage. I picked up a bioelectric cell on the way out, so in the end I didn't really lose any energy. Destroying the ship was actually quite easy. There aren't many patrols, and there is so much clutter that sneaking around is easy. After destroying the last weak hull point, the alarms went off and I had several extremely angry guards chasing me, but using the power of superhuman speed enabled me to run past all of them, taking minor damage from their attacks in exchange for maintaining my vow of nonviolence. One neat thing about Deus Ex is all the little details in the game. For example, after finishing the ship mission, you are dropped off at a graveyard in order to contact Dowd, and this guy opens the gate for you: Yes, that is no fewer than three bottles of booze on the table. And there are another four on the table in the other room! At first you might think that this guy either really likes his alcohol, or that the designers placed booze bottles around at random because hey, why not? However, after talking to Dowd he seems puzzled that there was somebody working so late at night. On your way out, you find the area swarming with MJ12 agents, and are informed by your pilot that he can't land until you disable a jammer... that gatekeeper is part of a trap to lure you in! Now the ridiculous amount of booze laying around makes sense... the asshole gatekeeper was drinking heavily in order to calm his nerves so that he wouldn't seem suspicious! It's neat little details like that which are always really cool in games.

Impressive run, Feynman! I was worried I had left you in dire straights, but I'm glad to see that wasn't the case. This game just keeps getting better and better!

The first hour or so was really productive but once I hit China I also hit a wall progress-wise. I feel like I've talked to everyone. There's a vault with a 5-digit code SOMEWHERE in town that's supposed to be accessible (which I have) but the only one I can find with a 5-digit code doesn't unlock when I use it. So I have no idea what's up with that. I did get through the capture and escape from UNATCO and also the helicopter escape bit (didn't realize for the longest time I actually had to run through the doorway like that to get though. Whaddaya know?) I even have an amusing screenshot from my escapades: steamcommunity.com/id/muteKi/screenshot/595853149559519053?tab=publicYeah, I killed basically everyone in the barracks. With a sniper rifle! EDIT: Is Jojo next? Since we're in the heart of China, god I hope so. The accents, man, the accents...

I was debating picking up from where I left off as a tangent/practice run just to check out Hong Kong and practice my Tlacel Tong accent and mannerisms. That way I can pretend to be him on the podcast and xerxes can do a imitation of a smooth talking J.C. ;p EDIT: BTW, I love the photo. I'm pissed because I missed a great photo op - I'd just killed an NSF guy but was mowed down by his pals - the way JC hit the floor it looked like he and the terrorist were holding hands.

Yeah, my Denton is a murderous psychopath apparently; when he got special plot item that I got from playing a bit farther through AFTER I turned in my save I killed everyone I could get away with, including the mall cops and this one girl in the club with a case of the Elder Scrolls (had nothing to say but "THANKS FOR GETTING ME IN!" EVERY. TIME. I. CAME. NEAR. HER.)
Also my one tip for the guy playing next since I did get past it, is that there are some things to be found around Maggie Chow's place I missed; check the public terminal for a few clues in that regard. To save you the trouble of trawling through the notes to find it, it's in the apartments on Tonnochi Road.

Damn it, only now do I notice the "your turn!" PM on the 18th because I don't check these forums as often as I do IRC...also looks like I have a botched save issue to contend with.

I think I might have inadvertantly kept us behind...oops.
I just finished playing - very little progress was made, although I managed to get the Dragon's Tooth without using any multitools. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get any further into the MJ12 base without being wiped out by the guards since my health and battery are so low.
Anyway, driving and work have taken their toll and I think I'm done for the night. Up next, Muteki!

It's getting dangerously close to podcast time. Because the most fun part of this game is doing crazy stuff, please submit your all-time favorite Deus Ex stories for us to read "on the air."

Joestar, was your save number 009? Because I got 008 and expected to see the dragontooth sword in my inventory and be able to get into Tong's place, though neither seems to be the case.

OK. So save 008 was the right one -- the door to the sword was open and all. I just had to sneak by very quietly and take care of that. (Thanks to all you guys who pointed out the security code is her birthday.) But yeah, after the sword was secured in my inventory (and the combat knife and a couple other minor piddling odds and ends) were dropped, it was time to run head-on into the break room and kill all the MJ12 troops in the break room next door.
Having completed that, Pants "Muderpants" Denton went on to the next task, robbing the convenience store blind of its supplies. Also killing all witnesses including the hooker who kept following him around like a strangely accusatory puppy, telling him his time was up. Well, whose time's up now bitch?
His next stop was to murder everyone in the VersaLife facility. Yes. Everyone he could find he killed. They really shouldn't stock their medical bots in the same areas as most of their armed staff. And, yes, even the exploding ones and the mostly harmless dudes in the cubicles. Yeah, that's what I think about your stupid virus manufacturing processes. Blow it up sky high.
(I actually played this bit in a different save the night before* and encountered -- and killed -- Maggie Chow.) I didn't see her this time as I was making my way out. I suspect she got killed in crossfire during some slightly earlier incident, or perhaps she is merely on the lam. In any case, ol' Murderpants fears nothing except perhaps rocket-carrying military bot, and even then only when there are no scramble grenades around.
Back in NYC, Murderpants Denton left a trail of cop bodies throughout the entire town. Of course they have a cave troll military robot, so while the streets are not safe for him yet, neither is it safe for the cops. Yeah, whaddaya think of the 99% now, man? Let's see you pepper spray this. Also he went in and killed a guy in the free clinic unprovoked because a voice in his head told him to. Pants "Murderpants" Denton, ladies and gentlemen, the sort of man who only uses a sword and yet searches everybody for ammo.
Murderpants's next quest is to blow up a sub. Thankfully he has a set of LAMs with which to do so. If all goes well, Murderpants should one day have his own holiday: Explosion Day.
* That save's "Save 009" in my personal files, and since I copied over all the files in the dropbox so far, the new one is "Save 010". Don't worry, you didn't miss one. Also, if it says "Cheats enabled" don't worry about that either. In my dicking around the night before I tried to get cheats going so I could mess around more than I had, but it didn't work. I forgot to turn them off, so the save might still say that when you load it. But I assure you it's quite a legitimate save; no cheats were ever used except for thereisnospoon one time just for fun.

I've given Rasa few days to take over in case he wanted to play, but he hasn't signed onto the GC9X channel yet, so I'm going to be playing my turn later this evening. I'll most likely be streaming my run, so here's an early link to the stream.

Due to a major distraction last night, I will be streaming my Deus Ex run tonight. I'll update this post when it's about to start! Edit:The stream will start at 11 PM EST! Have a redundant stream link. Edit:...and that's a wrap! I stopped my save right at the doorstep of Area 51. Here's my plan for Team Stupid: I'm going to upload my Area 51 save, and then I would like all of you guys to play through the stage separately! We'll then write down our experiences with the final stage, or simply stream. I'll also be updating the first post tomorrow with links to relevant media that we've made for the game. Currently xerxes' excellent blog post is up for reading.
