Ace Combat 7 is really great. First experience with the series. Got lucky there by not taking Ace Combat Advance for a spin instead. |

I can do it again. =) Arguably, I would say Super C to Contra Force. Let's do this: Chrono Trigger > Chrono Cross Urban Strike > Soviet Strike Contra comparison briefly crossed my mind, but the bosses in CF have been granted a bit higher sprites count, resulting in more luxurious movement flexibility. Aesthetically the environments lack a bit, but technically, they're just about in pair with. |

Some call 'em "Run 'N Guns" and all vids i posted have auto-movement as i see it. It's for you to decide, hope you'll find any that might interest you. Run'n'guns, huh? These are shmups, since the background scrolls automatically, the fact that you play as gunslinger or a knight doesn't change anything. It's a shmup just like any other with a spacecraft as the player character. Not all games i listed are those, like Rollergames and Adventure Island. Guess some people can't even be arsed to check them out. Isolated Warrior literally just went straight after my post again. |

Also, Gun Smoke, Undeadline, Elemental Master, etc. - those are just shmups with human characters. And your character doesn't move automatically, that I recall, but even if it did, they wouldn't count. Some call 'em "Run 'N Guns" and all vids i posted have auto-movement as i see it. I just wish Phantasy Star 2 had been made around 1993, so the story and characters could have really fulfilled their potential, but then we couldn't have had PSIV. According to Wiki, Phantasy Star Generation 2 addresses some of the issues(character development etc.), but i haven't played it myself. |

Racing games in general get dissed big time on these boards and i don't know why.. But then again, gaming forums largely is about cats, peanut butter and Dark Souls, so that clears things a bit i guess.. They do? I don't remember racing games get more hate than other genres. Then again the actual genre is in an awkward phase as most well known series are absent on current platforms. I counted 11 games out of 851 completed last year, which could be considered a "racing" ones, plus zerker's post gives you a nice perspective on most popular individual games figures. acumajobelmont hasn't been posting for a while now too, hope he's ok. |
