I used to have the Salamander anime on VHS but lost it during a move. I mean it was terrible, but it was Salamander.

True. I have a fondness for the old Street Fighter II animated movie, too.

Mario and Sonic's OVAs were good, too.
STRANGE, ISN'T IT?

The original Street Fighter II anime movie was genuinely good stuff, like even if you're not a big Street Fighter fan. One of the rare exceptions for fighting game-based anime. (And I should know because I had to watch practically every anime ever based on a fighting game; don't ask, haha.) The Street Fighter Alpha movie was pbbbt though. But at least it didn't make me hate humanity like the Gowcaizer anime.
Now I'm kinda in the mood to watch the Tekken movie again. It's garbage but god did I laugh at a couple unintentionally hilarious parts.

That's weird, but now that I've thought about I can't help but see tons of missed potential, imagine a Metal Gear OVA from around the time of Metal Gear Solid that's a retelling of the original Metal Gear complete with David Hayter as Snake in the English dub! Man, why didn't Konami ever get into the anime scene? Ever see the Ninja Gaiden OVA? That's why. Probably for the best that a lot of these things never got an anime adaptation. They almost never work. Hell, those Castlevania and Silent Hill comic books? Most expensive toilet paper I've ever bought. Egad, thanks for reminding me of those Godawful Silent Hill comic books, those were an early warning that that franchise was about to go to shit. True. I have a fondness for the old Street Fighter II animated movie, too. This is kinda what I'm picturing in mind when I think a 90's era Metal Gear anime, something at least as good as the Street Fighter II animated movie.

I could totally see an anime Liquid saying, "You seem bound and determined to face destruction at my hands! So be it. I'll fight you on your own level!"

There are Zone of the Enders anime, both of which are pretty good actually. Also for Konamis Dating Sims like Tokimeki Memorial and Meine Liebe.

I always liked the live action film more than the animated one. It gave everyone more of a role. It was better written, like you could tell a writer who knew how to spin an entertaining tale was behind the pen. Even if it wasn't even remotely faithful to the game, it made them matter.
Ken and Ryu made entertaining gun runners, and Zangief sure had more fun being comic relief than random wrestling guy for, what, six seconds in the animated film?
Uh, so Bloodstained... am I the only one who's kind of skeptical? Maybe I'm just being jaded, but this kind of money being thrown at a game on name value alone(*coughMightyno9*cough*UnsungStory*cough) makes me nervous on principle.
The last KSes I trusted were Shadowrun, Shadowgate, and Bubblegum Crisis. Small teams with simple, clear goals in mind.

The live action movie is awful, just awful, it was some completely unrelated story with street fighter characters thrown in played by people who looked like they were wearing bad cosplay. And about Bloodstained, I'm looking forward to it but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much both because I know how rarely these kickstarter games actually turn out well and if it's one lesson the 2010s have taught me it's "don't get your hopes up too much". Still I trust IGA to give us something decent at least.

This was the guy who wrote Die Hard, keep in mind.

"You have made me a happy man." "Next, I'll make you a dead one."
"I guess you didn't SEE that one coming, did you?"
"Pigtails?" "Look who's talking."

Just don't over-hype it to yourself. I know I'm going to get an entertaining game in the 'Igavania' style (do we use this now instead of Metroidvania?), and that's all I'm expecting. I think anyone going into any game expecting the world is ultimately setting themselves up for disappointment. I'm a glass is half full kinda guy. Don't expect too much, and you can only ever be pleasantly surprised

As much as I complain about IGAvanias, I could see myself backing it if it was struggling to meet its funding goal, but I really don't see the point of backing it now. I mean, it's already been confirmed that there will be a physical print run outside of the Kickstarter copies. So, uh... unless you really care about a slipcase, some cheap useless trinkets, and a tiny bit of Kickstarter-exclusive digital content that probably isn't worth giving a damn about, why not just buy it when it's out, for probably less? I'm just gonna pick it up when it's inevitably marked down to 20 bucks or something. I imagine it'll be dirt cheap on Steam eventually too.
