Don't know if it's obscure (or horror) enough, but Missing: Since January just came to mind and is pretty unique. It's one of those games that send you emails in your real inbox and ask you to find solutions on the Internets, all for the sake of solving a serial killer's riddles. I dig the box art and the fact that the game pretends that it's not a game at all, we're really publishing it so that someone can crack the killer's code and save the kidnapped victims, y'know? I just like the first puzzle which is just a hand and a knife. The killer asks you: "the knife, give it to me"... creepy. Never finished it. Uninstalled the game after catching a virus because I became too trusting on the 'net, thinking it was just a part of the game. Now that is scary.

Hey, that looks quite interesting - I like the idea of the game going beyond software boundaries. Are there any obstacles that could make the game unplayable as of today?

The game isn't playable anymore, without a guide at least, but i think the sequel, Le Dernier rituel, still works. But Viennot, In Memoriam's designer, continue to work with his transmedia style, his latest game, Alt-Minds, seemed pretty interessting too, but since it was played in real time, it's unplayable today. Here's an interview (in french) if you're interessted.

Are you sure? There's a patch that supposedly helps when registering your email address and the WayBack machine can take care of the web pages, if need be, since some of them are still kicking.

That game looks very very cool. Very good idea. Anyone know where i could get the Zaphie games? They look really cool. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZT6_IYbKiI0:50 - 1:40 . That guy really creeped me out.

The only Zaphie stuff I've been able to find seems to be this demo site. But I have no idea if it's legit. 3dsl.game-host.org/site/download.php?mirror=2880#DownloadDeep Fear looks good. This weekend I started wondering if I should try to get ahold of a Sega Saturn for their horror games, but man looking at some of the games they're pricey as all hell. There's no way I'd be able to afford them. The Echo Night games are great. I have the first one and Echo Night: Beyond. The latter on the PS2 was pretty fun. Something about the atmosphere just kept me on pins and needles throughout all of it. The original 1 I haven't given too much of a playthrough yet. I was just reminded of this one. The Turkish survival horror game Kabus 22. It's traditional Resi Evil-style and as far as the controls go they're pretty awesome and not at all clunky like when other people try to emulate the genre. The game starts off fairly creepy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TvMCDW6kVA

Love Echo Night Beyond, great atmosphere. Kabus looks awesome. I'll look for that. I saw that 3dsl link, it looked a bit dodgy though.

Dark Tales From The Lost Soul is surprisingly fun. Where could i find those games? Geisters and Bloody Aria mainly. Morbid looks a bit meh and I have no way of playing korean ps2 games. And Since someone mentioned Chris's survival horror quest, I emailed him earlier on and it turns out he never heard of Night Head. Unfortunately he hasn't been very active on the blog lately but he said he'd try and get his hands on Night Head.
