Knock, Knock by ice pick lodge. It's their only other game and next to pathologic it deserves more popularity. It's amazingly mindfucked.
Also how's the pathologic retranslation going?

I have Knock Knock but haven't played it yet. Got it cheap in the gog sales. But Ice Pick Lodge did another horror game called "The Void". I got it on steam but have yet to play it. Here's some Dark Hunter gameplay. I think it was mentioned earlier. It's pretty fun and you can change the language at any point. Nice little interactive horror anime. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaycbdtJZuk

The Void or Dark Hunter? "The game is about a soul that accidentally lingered in the Void, before absolute death. The Void is a purgatory-like place, in which the most valuable thing is Color, a liquid that represents lifeforce. Color is scarce and famine is a usual thing for its dwellers — beautiful naked Sisters and deformed monstrous Brothers. Color is a universal resource in the game — at the same time it is the hero's health, armor, stats and ammo. With the help of Nameless Sister, the soul finds out that there is a way to escape and be reincarnated again on the surface, but in order to do this the player must disguise himself as one of the Brothers and eventually confront them." - The Void. Very abstract... Dark Hunter is about a school which seems to be taken over by some dark forces. Teachers seem to be possessed and students are brainwashed. The 3 playable characters basically investigate the strange events that occur in the school. www.segagagadomain.com/saturn12/darkhunter1.htm Its on the Saturn and PS1.

In light of this thread, I've decided to finally pick up and play Carrier for the Dreamcast. The reason? Many people pointed me out many similarities to Deep Fear, which led me to think if this were a spiritual successor of sorts. Suffice to say, the game ended up being decent, but fun nonetheless. While the expectations I had for it certainly don't make it live up to Deep Fear, the game had some good things going for it: atmospheric soundtrack, enemy designs... and that's about it. Still, it would've been interesting to see were Jaleco could have taken the franchise further, in fact, according to this, a PS2 sequel was in development before it mysteriously vanished. As for why I think the game is decent: The controls are a little too sluggish for combat and some boss battles can be nigh frustrating.

Honestly none of Ice Pick's games are really horror (at least Pathologic or The Void), they're a bit unnerving in places but they're more darkly surreal than scary - they're clearly not intended to terrify the player.

The Dark Hunter game was the one I thought looked interesting. Tried out the demos for Ghost Temple and Zaphie 2: Resurrection and they were legit. Here's some video I recorded. Ghost Temple Demo www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ4szhxXDOAZaphie 2: Resurrection Intro www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt8HiYRT5lwZaphie 2: Resurrection Demo www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7Bh7FzZHtUGhost Temple was kind meh and froze on me, but Zaphie 2 definitely has something to it. The demo was dripping with atmosphere, and generally unsettled me at times. It's music seemed reminiscent of something out of Silent Hill but that doesn't surprise me considering that everything in the demo felt SH-like. At the end, of the demo something happened and it threw me into a labyrinth I couldn't escape. I don't know if that's some part of the gameplay or just a unique way of closing out the demo but it was pretty interesting. EDIT: If someone knows Korean I'd be happy to know what was actually said in the game.

Very nice! I really want to try Zaphie now. I have it lying there but i started playing Dead and the brain instead. Was it easy to get running? Unfortunately i don't know any Korean. Maybe the guys over on unnamed might know something? I think they translated Whiteday. I think ill take out the dreamcast again and play some carrier. Nice little game.

So, I tried both Zaphie downloads. The first one gives me an error saying "xaudio.dll missing" and the second one says the disc image file is corrupted. I got into the disc image file using MagicISO and found a file called install.exe but i run it and just get a blank square in the middle of the screen. I'm pretty shit when it comes to stuff like this so I might be missing something obvious. Any suggestions?

Hmm, that's weird I got the xaudio.dll missing error on the second download that was just one .rar file so I gave up on that one and went with the other one. It didn't give me any problems once I got it running with Daemon Tools lite. I'm not really much better with comp stuff. My friend helped me to get it running. Wondering if I should start playing Carrier as well since everyone is playing. I really didn't know much about it when I bought it, except that it was one of the better survival horror games on the Dreamcast.

Got it working after I mounted with Daemon Tools . Are we sure this is just a demo? Its a big file. I'll try it out myself later and see if i can get further than the Labyrinth. Has anyone played the resident evil style X-Files game on the PS2?

Oh, I have. It was decent, a bit better if you understand the mythology of the series, and since I hadn't watched the series at that point most of the larger plot points were lost on my. I'm anticipating that the adventure game on the PS1 game will be a bit better.
Apparently, going by some other people that have played Zaphie 2, the main character need's to take some pills every so often otherwise he get's thrown in one of 3 nightmare worlds until some timer runs out and he's returned to the real world. I believe they might've been in the blue bottle I found. Also, explains why the first time I played I collapsed inside the house and was taken somewhere else other than the labyrinth. I first wound up in some underground sewer with fireballs flying at me mario-style and proceeded to die.

I'll keep that in mind when i play Zaphie, I might deliberately go without the pills to see what sort of nightmare world pops up. I really want to get into the X-Files, but...So many episodes...
