Have you tried out Countdown Vampires I took the time this weekend to beat it and wow. I'm like really mixed on this game. I mean the game was no where near as bad as I'd thought it would be based on word of mouth, but it was unequivocally a clone of Resident Evil. The story felt like it was barely, there but upon learning that the game's special mode adds a storyline I instantly wanted to jump back in and experience. The game was pretty long to even aside from the replay value with plenty of enemy types and guns appearing. None of the puzzles wound up stumping me and the game even made some improvements on the Resident Evil gameplay such as giving you a quick weapon change button. Gambling was a fun distraction and I like how it went away midway through the game once you knew what you were doing, but still came back at the very end when the game increased in difficulty. Voice acting was crappy, but I was able to look past it considering the era this game came from wasn't known for spectacularness. All in all, it was pretty fun.
Also, never knew the dogs from Resi Evil 4 and Haunting Grounds were the same one...

Hey haven't posted in a while, my forum takeover has run it's course. I feel bad for posting that much over that two week period.
On topic: This reccomendation is well known, but the version of the game is hard to get. The sourcenext ports for RE2 and RE3 Are really GOOD. They are PC ports of RE2 and RE 3 from around 2006. The cutscens are uncompressed. Alongside this the graphics are nice with the resolution is in high res/anti-aliasing so the models look crisp.
IF someone here was willing to mod the source next versions to include the english wordings for the in-game text that'd be great. All of the cutscenes are in english, but with japanese subtitles. I recently picked up RE2 on n64, and wow they really compressed the video. (sega CD looks better at times) to abouut 240 or even 144p tier detail.
I'd really like to see the source next cutscenes break into the light of day. There are a few RE source next Let's Plays and videos, but no real reviews.
According to the guys who are finishing RE 1.5 I belive they are using the SourceNext engine or something connected to it to restore the game/finish it.
By the way does anyone know anything about pc Ports of Console games. I know there are several capcom games like RE 1/2/3 and mega man legends, FF7 and FF8, and MGS1/2 (mgs 2 on pc barely works on anything though).

The Void or Dark Hunter? "The game is about a soul that accidentally lingered in the Void, before absolute death. The Void is a purgatory-like place, in which the most valuable thing is Color, a liquid that represents lifeforce. Color is scarce and famine is a usual thing for its dwellers — beautiful naked Sisters and deformed monstrous Brothers. Color is a universal resource in the game — at the same time it is the hero's health, armor, stats and ammo. With the help of Nameless Sister, the soul finds out that there is a way to escape and be reincarnated again on the surface, but in order to do this the player must disguise himself as one of the Brothers and eventually confront them." - The Void. Very abstract... I really tried to play this game but the game played with me. It's incredibly odd. You have to draw with the mouse figures to attack or interact with the world (There is a PC/Wii game that also does this and it's just as irritating). Visually is pretty striking but it's still way too "out there" and weird to enjoy. I couldn't get far because I couldn't understand how the game worked. I thought I've played a great deal of obscure horror games, though I'm currently mostly playing these weird RPG-horror thingies made with RPG maker because they are short and fun, but this thread has taught me otherwise. Nice

You guys tried Cry of Fear? It's a much better Silent Hill(ish) game than all the non Team Silent ones. Brilliant stuff. Very impressive for a free standalone mod. I did. I couldn't go on much farther than two hours in, mostly because of other games getting in the way but also the graphics tiring me. It's good, though.

Nice Cry of Fear shows how amazing Half Life mods can be. Countdown Vampires, I heard of it but not never really looked into it. I might get around to it at some point. What RPG horror games have you been playing? A lot of them are great. I'd recommend : The God Of Crawling Eyes One Night Trilogy Misao Ib Corpse Party (original is rpg maker style) Yume Nikki There really is a lot of great ones out there. There's also a lot of great, but untranslated ones. Such as... www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUxBIrWH048

Haunting Tower's secret ending is only accessible after finishing the game though I believe? The game peters out the later it gets though which is a shame, the first two foes are creepier by far. hmmmmm, I may be remembering this wrong, it's been a couple of years since I last played it, but I believe it's more of an easter egg situation, you find an item or something like that late in the game that gives you a clue how to get the secret ending when you replay the game, but if you know what the clue is beforehand you can still access the ending, there's nothing you have to "unlock"

Space Funeral, Earth Birth, Off, Ib, Yume Nikki, Lisa, Mogeko Castle (not really horror, though it is indeed freaky), Alice Mare... I've played most of what vgperson has translated, to start with. I also played Ib and tried to play God of Crawling Eyes but I think I'm done with Yume Nikki-style games.

It's nice to see that the game is reaching it's release date. I'll be buying it day 1, having not received my Fatal Frame fix in a while.

Well it'd be really cool if the Camera was the WiiU pad, I can see that being fun.
