Shulk is a real "huh?" pick. We've already got a blond-haired swordsman (Robin), he's from a game that wasn't even meant to be released in the US, and the Wii U sequel which they should be trying to pimp right now is set in an alternate universe and will feature an entirely different cast. What was the thought process here? Also, fuck that dog and his unfunny meme that refuses to die. I bet they give him "deal with it" sunglasses as an alternate costume. Character from a recent game popular with the "gamers" crowd + sequel in the works. (and i don't think the US release is relevant.

If Street Fighter can have its abundance of shotos and still have them be unique, Smash Bros. can have all the swordsmen it wants. To this end, I think Takamaru from The Mysterious Murasame Castle would have been a great addition. This is Smash Bros. we're talking about though, so anything that can be a clone usually is one. The roster will never bother me, though, quite as much as the direction Sakurai's been taking the franchise since Brawl. Unless Sm4sh has COMPLETELY changed since the invitational, I only see myself buying the new game if Project M 2 gets made.

More interested in Pokken right now to be honest. I kind of lost interest after that little trolling attempt Sakurai did with Takamaru.

Then you're gonna be waiting a long time for P:M 2 considering no one has cracked the Wii U security yet(and probably won't for a good while yet). Besides that, I think I remember hearing that the developers are taking feedback from the invitational and the demos and tweaking the game based on that feedbackm so while it might not be exactly like melee, it will at least be a little bit tweaked up from brawl.

But, I'm not sure what you mean with the series bit. They all look right to me. All the characters from the same series are traditionally placed with each other on the select screen. All SMB characters are grouped together, all Pokemon are grouped together, etc. So it does seem a little odd that Dark Pit and Dr. Mario would be placed at the bottom of the roster rather than with the rest of their series. That doesn't necessarily mean that they can't change that for this one though. Also, fuck that dog and his unfunny meme that refuses to die. I bet they give him "deal with it" sunglasses as an alternate costume.

What was the thought process here? Probably the same thought process that included Lucas in SSBB, from a game that wasn't released in the US and already had a pretty similar character in Ness? You know they don't make these games just for the US, right? Duck Hunt dog owns tho

The Duck Hunt dog is an odd choice given the game is Soooo old but hey - from the company giving us 'Dry Bowser' (sadly just skeleton Bowser and not recovered alcoholic Bowser) as a DLC character in Mario Kart I'd say Dog-Hunt is a much more preferable choice :-) Now - where is Tingle already? :-(

duck hunt is a really famous / popular game among people who remember the nes fondly but remain outside of gaming as some serious hobby

I still want Mike Jones. It'd never happen since his games never hit Japan, and he'd basically be a Lucas/Ness clone (baseball + psychic powers), but still...

I don't know who I want to use as a training dummy more, Bowser Jr. or that smug (literal) son of a bitch.

I don't know who I want to use as a training dummy more, Bowser Jr. or that smug (literal) son of a bitch. I was one of those stupid children who pressed against the TV. So I never really share that hate. But, I also played the game once when I was 6, because I never owned an NES, or a light gun. But Bowser Jr. might be kind of fun to troll with. I'm abstaining from seeing how any of them play. I kind of missed the excitement from Melee when I unlocked a completely secret character, (Marth, Roy, Ganondorf, and Game & Watch were mindblowing to a 12 year old Klaid. Ganondorf mostly because that was my big Zelda phase). But, as there is no longer anyway to avoid that kind of thing anymore. I'm at least keeping gameplay a secret.
