That's most likely it, yeah. I've done several years of systems administration for various companies and you wouldn't believe the archaic backup tech some were using. Retrieving files from it was hell. Yeah, I've seen a few really ancient machines still in active use just because nobody wants to go through the hassle of converting all those old backups into a modern format.

When I first saw the saturn I assumed the cartridge slot was for genesis games to this day it kills me that it is not Almost certainly it was *supposed* to be, but I guess they dropped it in order to keep costs down. Most of the Saturn's major non-graphics parts are actually just slightly nicer versions of what you'd get in a 32X/Genesis set, with a CD drive. 2 SH-2s for main CPUs, and a M68K for sound processing.

imagine how cute a console the saturn would be if it could play genny games I would own two tbqh In retrospect, it's kind of nice it didn't happen, as it would have meant the retro collector market would have long since gobbled them all up and I wouldn't have been able to buy one.
