Yeah, I know that Bare Knuckles 3 was easier (and had a slightly more interesting story). But SoR 3 still isn't that hard, since you have more resources than in SoR2; you can dodge a lot of bosses's attacks with the Up, Up/Down, Down roll, you can use your specials without penalty once your bar is charged up, and every character can run. I don't think it would considered as a "hard game" if the prequel hadn't been very easy--SoR1 is probably just as hard as SoR3.
And yeah, GA3 definitely plays better than RODA. Absolutely. More moves, more speed and the previously inexistent defensive aspect. It's true that RODA allows you to load a catapult onto creatures back, which is a cool novelty, but the fighting in general is missing something, and Ax Battler is the only character who's vaguely satisfying to play as. I have played RODA by myself and with friends, and we always got bored before the end. Maybe it's the fact that many enemies and even bosses barely put up any resistance?
