While several know that Geo Storm / GunForce II is like the spiritual predecessor, not many realize that Hiyamuta, the composer, later started what's actually its cousin, Sammy's Dolphin Blue arcade.
And before Metal Slug featured close combat, DECO's Wolf Fang also had it.

They're playing it safe for now: it will all depend on KoF XIV success whether they'll properly revive their other franchises or not.

While I'm not looking forward to KOF XIV, I'm willing to bet that it would sell a lot better than SFV did given how good the game looks and how much characters it has.
Come to think of it, its quite sad that the only hope for SNK to do more in the future is something that is quite niche genre-wise.

There's something strange about the series; for about 20 years it never had an adaptation of any kind despite being well-known. I guess it might have something to do with the silly, mostly lighthearted nature of the games' world where its not supposed to be taken seriously.

Can someone do a translation of what these guys are saying in English? Because I would really love to hear what they have to say about the making of the franchise (and with good reason: there's a lot to talk about how Metal Slug originally was). Link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0PgNJMP3G4

The screenshots from KofXIV I can recall looked pretty ugly.

The concept of a KOF game outselling a SF game is hilarious. Even if it weren't a game with such little hype considering how infamously ugly it is.

To my knowledge the game looked like a beta for a PS3 game then slowly got better and better in terms of visuals; though frankly I'm more concerned about everything else than how the game looks.

As am I, especially as a fan of the series. But this has gone way off-topic.

Yeah, this supposed to be about Metal Slug not KOF and I don't really care about KOF unless something objectively stupid happens like something along the lines of removing buttslaps and barebones single player modes (and being able to be beaten by a baby!) but I digress.
