A random sentiment, though: I keep trying to wrap my mind around Nakky and Rimmy being the most popular characters of the series. I really want to find my mind roaming to another explanation besides "It's a lolicon thing..." can somebody supplant this? Probably not. As for the popularity thing, it's probably not lolicon, and I do believe it's most likely because of Aoi Nanase making SS doujinshi focusing primarily on Nakoruru and her sister more than anything else. Enix took notice of her work and compiled all of them into one book, so the doujinshi is definitely not hentai in nature. Well, that and she sacrifices herself in part 2, which made many fans sad.

I figure that they are the most popular characters because they are the most anime-ish characters in the series. I figure it has more to do with cuteness factor than anything else, kind of like how Fio is the most popular character in Metal Slug.
Oh, and no screenshot or even mention of the Alien from SamSho II? Or did I miss it?

It would be cool to see a screenshot, or at least a mention of Mai's cameo in Haohmaru's ending in SamSho 1, as well. I could probably take screenshots of both of those things if you need them.

I got the Mai shot from VGMuseum. If you could provide the SS2 one though, that'd be cool. Thanks!

I was about to send you screenshots for Pinball Quest, Rock 'n' Ball, Mercs, and Alien Crush (as those are the only games that I have finished screenshotting completely), so I'll put in a screenshot of Gen-an's stage in SamSho II as well.

Hey! Wasn't there a bug in the 3DO version of SS where you could jump in the air indefinitely?? Or was it the SNES version??? It was in Ukyo's stage I believe.
Also, you guys should have definitely gone into depth about SS2's gameplay. Running, ducking, hoping, grabbing the enemy's weapon barehanded, and other such hard maneuvers was (besides the graphic update) what distinguished it the most. Add some pics of the SD character's commands too!!!

Having that wicked hawk dive move and the super-irritating ice platform move doesn't hurt them either. Also, Nakky just rules in Match of the Millenium. On another note: I can't seem to get the special "Concentration One" finisher that talks about the special pose and BGM in the article... how do I get it?

I've only played the first episode of Samurai Shodown but I have fond memories of it. I don't have much else to say other than it's a very well written piece,as for HG101 standards.

"All creatures will die and all things will be broken". I should make a t-shirt out of it.
-Typo:"the ninja brothers Kazuki and Sogetsu Kazama, who wield the respective powers of fire and ice." Sogetsu's power is actually water-based.
-On SS4 you can drop your weapon too by pressing Down Down Down + Start

You could back hop in the original, catch your opponent's weapon the exact same way in the original, and the original SamSho is the first fighting game ever to have running. The second game gave you the ability to jump from a run, which the first did not have. The profile for Genjuro Kibagami says "Most of his attacks are based off Hanafuda cards.". That wording is not entirely accurate. Many of his moves show Hanafuda cards during their animations, and a few even directly refernce elements of the rules of Hanafuda, but it is not really entirely accurate to say that they are based on Hanafuda cards. It would be more accurate to say that the character of Genjuro is heavily inspired by the card game Hanafuda. Oh, and I will have that screenshot of the Alien in SamSho II sent in shortly.

But can you half-circle forward + A to catch a blade on the first one? And what about pressing C or D while holding it to kick it off your opponent? Also worth mentioning (I think) is Sogetsu's and Kazuki's progressive struggle with their respective elemental spirits.
