Contributed, past tense.
On any other forum, he would have been banned a long time ago. Kurt was taking it way too easy on him, but he just wasn't listening.

Just for a week.
I've taken the stance in the past that he's just been a bit crazy and irritating but not necessarily breaking any rules. But at a certain point his arguments have devolved into trolling, and it's just gotten way too much on my nerves.

Each time he leaves, he comes back crazier. I expect him to come back with an Uzi.

Anyway, the article really did need comments about the 1993 Senate Hearings. Actually, I did another swing on Youtube and found more videos, and boy was that game being attacked. The poor guy who ran arcades said probably 4 times that "Night Trap is not a coin-op" game but kept getting asked what he'd do about the game (or others similar).

You know, independently of if a piece about a game needs or doesn't need political, historical, social, or any kind of side dish context, the f****** bottom line is that if you don't like it you change the channel. I have no idea where Disco gets his patience from, but it has a lot to do with how successful this forum is. Hats off to you.

Don't you mean Cyber TERRORISM?!
He had it for a long time coming, IMO. The insane amount of patience Kurt and the mods have shown towards him is a testament to how this place is run. While I personally disagree with letting things drag out this far, I think that patience is worth commending.
That said I fully expect accusations of Admin Nazism when he gets back.

The poor guy who ran arcades said probably 4 times that "Night Trap is not a coin-op" game but kept getting asked what he'd do about the game (or others similar). Well, the fact is that the vast majority of US senators do not know the details about the vast majority of issues that are brought up in the Senate. When they see something as juicy as "protection of children against violence" (not matter how virtual), they get a chance to pounce and boost their family values cred. Plus, I doubt the video game industry had very effective lobbyists back then, or even today. Night Trap and Mortal Kombat were the vehicles used and it wouldn't make any sense for any article (excepting summarized reviews) not to mention that.

I remember DOOM and Wolfenstein also getting their fair share of scrutiny, though not nearly as much as NT and MK did.

I'm a bit late to the party... just wanted to pop my head in and say, I'm intrigued by this mention of a Xeno article with commentary. (: I just hope it doesn't bash Xenosaga for having too much FMV and too little gameplay, because damn, I loved Xenosaga Episode I. Loved it to pieces. Wish more games would balance movie and gameplay time so well.
Anyway, I too think zzz needed some time off (I can be a pain in the ass myself, but I *usually* know when to quit!), but I'm very concerned as to how he'll react when he returns. I hope he's smart enough NOT to post about admin naziism and how unfairly he's been treated, but I can really, really foresee that happening, and quickly spiraling out of control. This one-week suspension may be the end of him...
Kind of fitting, though, that the catalyst was an article about the game that sparked so much controversy around the medium. (:

(: -Tom I know the person writing the Xeno articles is very much a HUGE fan of the series, so I don't think you need to worry about that. Said person even likes XS2 somehow! (I keed Atma ) And yeah, I think we can all be pain in the asses from time to time. No one's perfect. But we (usually) know when to call it quits, and zzz obviously didn't. I hope this little vacation is what zzz needs to knock some sense into his head, but I think he either won't come back at all (which I think would be best for everyone, including zzz himself), or just go on a massive explosion upon his return.

I agree with zzz (mostly) about this article, but he was just being an argumentative ass. If you don't like something, you air your grievances and if the webmaster disagrees that is pretty much the end. Or, you just realize that not every article printed in the history of mankind is going to appeal to you and you move on.
zzz basically leaves no room for negotiation. A more sensible person would have been overjoyed at having convinced discoalucard to tone the article down, but with zzz he needs to be 100% right and everyone else needs to be 100% wrong for him to feel vindicated.

This debate has made me reflect on the possibility of writing an Exile article. The Japanese games haphazardly mix Christian, Judaic, Islamic and Brahmic (?) religious influences together like some kind of crazy stew - to the point where some people might be offended. Maybe.
I don't think you could talk about the trilogy without out mentioning at least in the passing the fact that the 3 big religions have at timessat uncomfortably with each other. No wonder WD removed a lot of it. At one point you use sacred blood to resurrect Noah.

Wyrdwad, trust me, Xenosaga is my #1 game love forever. It's gonna get nothing but loves. Hell, as Onyx said, I even love 2 to pieces. The commentary I'm talking about that could be construed as off-topic in my work would be discussion of Nietzsche and Jung and such, as they are heavily integrated and are therefore relevant enough for discussion in my eyes. (You have no idea how much I've read/studied for this article, heehee)
In general, I'm really patient about cutscenes, too, so those will never make me angry, no matter what game.
ON TOPIC I want to play Night Trap really badly now, if even just for the kitsch factor.
