Huzzah!
It's nice to see the devs being sensible and realizing that their original changes were too extreme. Gunvolt's original design stressed how fast and agile he was: flowing jacket, flowing braid, and an exposed midriff to reinforce his athleticism. Looking at the original design and the first suggested western version, even as a still drawing the Japanese design looks more agile, to say nothing about how important the braid's animation would be to the character's design in-game. The western design just looked like a dude with a gun.
I wouldn't have minded if they kept the midriff too, but that part isn't crucial like the hairstyle is. The braided ponytail really sells Gunvolt's design and I'm very glad to see it return.

Yeah, the midriff only affects the colors of a handful of pixels that are only occasionally visible, so I don't really mind either way. But the ponytail is actually animated, so taking it feels like we're getting, what, 5-10% less animation with its absence.

This kind of reminds me with how Namco wanted to redesign Klonoa for the US Wii version. (they dropped that, though)

With that logic UK would of got no Dragon Ball games because none used the Ocean Dub.

Mega Man ZX as well. Hell, for the European release of ZX Advent, they cut out the English voices! (Fun fact: The ROM is the same size)

(Fun fact: The ROM is the same size) Castle Shikgami 2 in Europe had all voices removed,all cut scenes and endings removed thanks Play It for that.Same company also changed the title screens and box art of Strikers 1945 1 and 2 Ps2 disc to 1945 1 and 2 nothing else was changed and the Ps1 versions had the original names not by them so why did they do this? The stupid Kirby's Epic Yarn narrator thing was probably the reason why Europe got the game 4 months after US too because doing multiple voice acting recordings during development is to hard for Nintendo.It was the same with Smash bros Brawl was it really necessary to delay it 4 months in Europe just so you could hire a french/germam/Spanish announcer to say the characters names instead of just using the English one to do it and getting him to say a few non english lines. Though they did another weird change to the game where the Nintendo History is only of Nintendo of Europe which means games like Earthbound are not on the list despite begin in the game. They did a similar thing with Melee the Virtual Boy in the Trophy room was removed in Europe.

They are padded to fit a given cartridge size, much like how Super Mario All Stars Wii is 4.38GB, with only 6MB worth of data and the rest padding. For example, Pokémon White/Black 2 (actual data around ~90MB), Ni no Kuni DS (lots of pre-rendered BG/audio data, data around ~370MB) and Inazuma Eleven 3 DS (data ~200MB) are all, when dumped from the original cart, 512MB. As for Kirby Wii, it was always intended to be localized for Europe for a second time. They did localize the text AND audio for Japanese, American English, American French, and American Spanish. (you can tell since both the initial JP release and US release have already all of those done and functional, but some made unavailable depending on region) THEN, they were localizing it for European English, European French, European Spanish, as well as German and Italian. A later separate release included Korean. In all versions (save for the Korean build and the Korean language, which were more of an afterthought), all these variants and duplicates minus Korean had their folders inside the ISO ready in all versions (the text was placeholder for all European variants). The reason being: Nintendo almost never releases the US version script as the UK version script anymore, ever since the infamous Mario Party 8 UK recall, when they did use the US script, and it contained a highly offensive word by UK standards. NoE now does the JP>EN translation from scratch on their own, or -much more rarely- rewrites the NoA script. Same goes for French and Spanish: the American versions completely disregard the European canon names, even when a modified 60Hz build of the (Euro) French version was actually officially released for American territories back in the nineties with said canon names. It's their modus operandi. However NoA/Xseed for some reason has no problem selling English NoE localizations unaltered beyond making them English-only (save for Solatorobo, which they rewrote a bit).

The whole mario party 8 thing though the sentence with the offending word did not make much sense in UK context really though. A DS Brain Traning clone also got recalled in UK for using the same word though that was nothing to do with Nintendo. But calling someone a heavily autistic person in game about making you smarter does sound offensive though saying a train did by magic which is what mario party 8 said does not make much sense.
Though even if there rewriting scripts they should be getting all their games in US and Europe same week as each other which is the case for most games on Sony and Microsoft systems. If smaller company's can manage this I see no reason why Nintendo can not.

Spastic (in the case of Mario Party 8, became "erratic").
It's an interesting topic actually. They also delayed the PAL VC release for Super Mario RPG for something similar ("Bugger" becoming "Pest"). One of the more recent incidents involve the Wii U VC Breath of Fire II releases ("Damn">"Darn").

It's actually "spaz" which means less "clumsy" and more "retard" in britain.Well the actual word was Spastic "spaz" is slang for it do find it weird they was a few PS1 titles in US under a brand called Spaz though. A few other words can cause problems in UK though due to different meaning most never get edited or changed such as spunk begin slang for semen and fanny begin slang for vagina. I think the reason the Dubbed version of the show Gash bell was changed to Zatch bell was just because of UK despite the fact it never aired on TV here. Also kinda weird the PS2 game had bastard in its dialogue when it had 4kids name on it.
