www.japanese3ds.com/post/95498255974I didn't knew about this one. Also, I remember that the DS remake of Dragon Quest IV cut out all the "party talk" dialogue from the localization because they couldn't be bothered to translate such a large amount of nonessential script. They kept it for V and VI though. Party talk in Dragon Quest VI was awesome and with DQIV having a more interesting character casting and with bigger variety it would be even better. Not to mention that DQIV is my favourite DQ game (for the time being at least since I haven't played yet the 7th and the 8th one, I still haven't managed to beat the final boss of the 6th one). Did they kept the party talk at the iOS/Android port of DQIV at least? I mean, what is this? Are we back in the 90s all of a sudden? My word exactly. Then again what would you expect from a company who try to give a more "manly" look at the localization in order to sell at the young boys which they believe they will be their main target group? I would love to see them localizing Gal Gun. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gal_GunGeez, with all this shit I'm very skeptical about buying this game.

Removing all text and voice in a LOCALIZATION seems absolutely absurd and incredibly backwards. Who could possibly think that's a good idea? I understand they want a quick, cheap release, but this is just a joke. Plus, hearing it's so easy definitely is making me lose any piddling interest I had after reading this latest news. Honestly, I'm totally okay with it. These games rarely have plots worth writing home about; replaying the Mega Man Zero games are kind of a chore because of having to button mash through tons and tons of text, made way more irritating when you go for high rankings and have to reset due to a death. Yes Ciel, you are scared for Zero, the warrior who has survived a myriad of other similar encounters. We get it. I still have nightmares about the fucking horrific "talent" they got to voice ZX Advent. If it was a choice between that or nothing at all, well, sometimes less is more.

The Japanese version of Gunvolt lets you disable all that stuff in options anyway. It's MUCH better to give players the choice.

BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY But yea, the Mega Man series has never had an especially good plot. Especially not the Battle Network series.

Get this out on cartridge and I'd buy this in a heartbeat.

Yeah Inti Creates is sure sucking this localization process up. Honestly might skip this one between the butchered localization and supposedly easy game play.

The plot in the Zero and X series is actually pretty decent at times, but the overly chatty installments (all of the Zero series, X7) are very clumsy in the delivery.

They kept it for V and VI though. Well, FWIW, they did back in the day translate the Party Talk text for DQIV for all languages (with the obnoxious dialects and all). A much more likely reason would be either a rushed release, or wanting to fit in the (Multi-5+JP for all versions) build in a smaller cheaper cartridge. And the iOS Dargon Quest IV does indeed include the translated party talk but is much bigger than the DS version. How funny. And surprisingly convenient for them, financially speaking. That's something budget, PAL-only releases like Twinbee Rainbow Bell/Megaman Racing game used to do, and that's from the nineties. It seems though even Inafune admits the game is a POS before "his inmpovements", which don't really seem to change much. I guess that's why it's a digital-only budget release even in Japan. When even licensed anime IntiCrates stuff has more challenge than this one, you know they messed up. Hope IntiCrates does something better next time.

I generally consider it a fantastic game, but the localisation of Advent is almost insulting (I have only played the US version), one of the worst examples of voice acting in a commercial release I can think of.

I didn't mind the voice acting, to be honest. If you've ever played early PC games with voice acting, you'll know that it was a far cry from being the worst.

I kinda suspect that this game fell by the wayside because Inti was so wrapped up in Mighty No. 9, and they weren't able to give it the attention or fine-tuning it deserved. Can't really excuse the low difficulty though. Turns out that even the famous spikes don't kill you in one shot anymore.
If there's a Gunvolt 2, I really hope they learn from these mistakes.
And ZX Advent's English voice acting, while not good by any stretch, is a HUGE step up from Mega Man 8's "Dr. Wahwee" localization.

Now that this game has been released in America...who bought it? Impressions from the localization? Is it as butchered as it was planned?

Plot = How you tell a sequence of events. Story = The sequence of events.
