Actually, I always felt the strength of the Star Wars franchise was in the video games. But, that does come from someone who got a lot of them for birthday and Christmas as a kid, because no one wanted to watch the movies. But, yeah. I love the Star Wars video games. In fact, I'm not sure if I ever played a bad one. Well, Force Unleashed wasn't great.

Rebel Assault, while a technical marvel at the time, was objectively not a good game.

Never played the first one, but Rebel Assault II on the PS1 was really awful.

Never played the first one, but Rebel Assault II on the PS1 was really awful. Rebel Assault 1 is basically IMPOSSIBLE to control. Rebel Assault 2 is only SLIGHTLY less so, but it has those terrible on-foot sections to make up for that.

Rebel Assault also had those if you play far enough (midway into the Hoth missions). I had the Dos version. I do not regret getting rid of it.

Never played the first one, but Rebel Assault II on the PS1 was really awful. I think that was the one I had... I played like three missions, and could barely aim.

Rebel Assault, while a technical marvel at the time, was objectively not a good game. How so? I thought it was fun, and that was in 1998. It's an fmv based rail shooter, made at the dawn of fmv on comptuers even being possible. It's basically the shooter equivalent of Dragon's Lair.

Magic Knight Rayearth on the Saturn is pretty darn fun.

The Metro and STALKER series are both pretty good.

Dexter's Laboratory: Robot Rampage is a licensed reskin of Elevator Action EX. Even with the licensed force on it, its a great game (to be fair though, I am a huge fan of the series in general). I've never read the comics whatsoever, but The Red Star is a great shmup for PS2. I'm incredibly glad it found release after the whole Acclaim debacle. I remember reading on Racketboy about Hidden Gems for PS2, and Kim Possible: What's the Switch was on the list. It is surprisingly good; its like a younger children's version of Viewtiful Joe. EDIT: Here's the Racketboy Hidden Gems for PS2 list I mentioned.

I'm deeply disheartened that there has been zero mention of TRUE LIES up to this point.
Cartoony, violent, challenging and just a crapload of fun running around malls, parks and mansions filling bad guys up with lead. It's the ultimate Arnold game on SNES for sure. I still play it now and again. Fun overhead action game!

Judge Dredd for the Snes really took me by surprise. It's not perfect, but punches well above its weight for a licensed games.
