Aria of Sorrow is my favorite. Sound choice, what makes it preferable over the direct DS sequel for you? It's a really tough choice actually, since the DS sequel is basically a souped up version of Aria of Sorrow. I mean it's very close, Dawn of Sorrow would be my favorite, but there's two things that give Aria the slight edge, one is the Ayami Kojima character art versus the generic anime style character art in Dawn and the other would be Aria was my first Castlevania so it's very special to me. Really it's so neck and neck though I guess I would say both the Sorrow games collectively are my favorite.

Well the one thing Aria had going for it was the lack of post-bossfight circle drawing.

Hey that's alright. And I'll happily defend it again if you want to have the discussion hehe. I agree that SotN looks and sounds much better, but usually the gameplay stuff matters more to me. It's more than just gameplay though, the soundtrack in SotN really is top notch and adds a LOT to the overall experience, like its not some superfluous thing, it's a core element of what makes the game great. The gameplay differences are more important and I can listen to the music outside of the game. HoD is different since there's more of a clash between the sound and visual technical quality, similar to MCD games.
