Oh, I just thought of one! While it's questionable as to if Shadow Warrior could be considered a "classic", I think the 2013 reboot is a much better game.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall > Shadowrun Returns > Shadowrun (Super NES) > Shadowrun (Genesis) In my opinion...

Just recently beat Dragonfall, myself, and I have to agree. It's definitely the best Shadowrun video game experience so far.

Having played Mega Man 9 and 10 recently I think they are the best of the original series. Even better than 2 & quite a bit more difficult I believe. Although 10 is a little bit easier especially with the easy difficulty lol I think they are pretty much everything the originals were and then some with all of the extra features they have now.
Now if they will only bring one back and make it look like Bionic Commando Rearmed with updated music that matches the originals but with the new sound effects like Rearmed did and you will have the perfect Megaman game.

Even if it has some nice maps and weapons, I couldn't stand the original Shadow Warrior due to its atrocious "humour" and overall characterization, along with the fact that the most common weapons are also the most boring. The 2013 one has little to nothing to share with it, to the point I wonder why they bothered with the license, beside a very relative brand recognition - and it worked badly with me at first: I was afraid they'd go the same route as ROTT2013's developers and so wanted to know nothing about the new SW. Thankfully, it far surpassed any expectation (finished a second run of it recently).

The shitty Lo Wang character actually wasn't introduced until late in the original Shadow Warrior's development, because they decided it wouldn't sell without a Duke Nukem equivalent. I think you were gonna play as a generic stoic ninja.

What was wrong with the Rise of the Triad reboot may I ask? I've read of its really bad optimization issues on launch, has all that been sorted out since then?
I don't care what y'all think but yes the original Shadow Warrior is a classic and Lo Wang's a badass. I'm definitely playing the new one once I get the proper PC upgrade.

I didn't think it was THAT bad, myself, but I'm apparently I'm the only one who thinks so. Truthfully, if you liked the original Shadow Warrior, I can't see you having many issues with ROTT 2013. (I'd say ROTT's the better game, for a few reasons, but you know what I mean.) I think people's general issues with it is that you can't always backtrack for secrets like you could in the original, sometimes it's hard to see enemies because of their outfits, (A fair complaint) and that it's too close to the original game.

I think you were gonna play as a generic stoic ninja. I remember this one. That game looked boring though, I don't think Lo Wang was a shitty character for his time: he was on par with Duke Nukem and Cabal as the third Build character, which was pretty much what set the games apart from the heap of FPS characters (well we *could* add the guys from Redneck Rampage in there). Nowadays he is terribly outdated.

People are probably tired of me saying this but Odallus beats Demons Crest at its own game pretty soundly.

People are probably tired of me saying this but Odallus beats Demons Crest at its own game pretty soundly. Okay, I'm very curios: why do you feel that way? So far I have played just a bit of Odallus. And while I think that it's a decent game, it does not come close to the excitement I feel when playing Demon's Crest.
Why is that? First of all I think that the Gargoyle's Quest games are basically their own sub-genre: the combination of flying/gliding, clinging to walls and projectile-based combat makes them pretty unique. Odallus' protagonist controls more like the ones in Castlevania games - which is not a bad thing, mind you - but is does not stand out as much. So that alone makes them hard to compare. But even taking that into account, the controls in Odallus don't feel as responsive as the ones in Demon's Crest to me. Speaking of uniqueness: Firebrand's character design is fantastic! The Conan-inspired (anti?-) hero in Odallus on the other hand seems rather uninteresting to me. And it's not just Firebrand: Demon's Crest offers some of the richest backgrounds and sprite-designs I've ever seen in a 2d game and the music is only rivaled by the best compositions in Castlevania games. I sometimes end up playing it just for the atmosphere alone. Odallus' graphics look quite competetent, and I appreciate all the little nods to Demon's Crest. But it can hardly compete with the latter. And I get that they went for NES-aesthetics, but I feel that they could have added some more variety and some more touches to make the visuals really stand out, even considering those self-imposed limitations (e.g.: Shovel Knight). That goes double for the music in Odallus: the tracks are okay, but after a short while I just want to turn them off. Sadly those are nowhere as involving as the amazing music in the Gargoyle's Quest and Castlevania games for NES and Game Boy (not to mention the 16/32 Bit titles). But like I said, I have not gotten very far yet (I've arrived at some sort of water-temple, right after beating the second (?) boss. So maybe there is something that I'm missing? What are the things I can be looking forward to? (I really want this to be great.)
