Pretty much, as far as I've been told. I wound up just biting the bullet and buying the Everdrive 64, because it's kind of stupid that N64 emulation hasn't really gotten any better since 2003. They're definitely on the right track with Project64 v2.3, i've tested a trio of games you mentioned on Win 7. Mischief Makers works best out of the bunch, with Body Harvest and Perfect Dark still having some issues(PD missing some textures on D3D plugin, works fine, but slower on Glide64;In BH case, most of the issues have been fixed with latest Glide plugin release, although i haven't fiddled with it yet).

Anybody got a better source for FM-Towns emulation? I've been trying to play Alltynex on UNZ and keep getting annoyed by all the graphics issues (corrupt title screen, missing miniboss effects, etc.)? Tested on Win 7 64-bit with UNZ V0.5 L20, seems fine.Used HDD image. Yeah I can't even figure out how to get the darn HDD image to load. Oh well.

Anyone know of some good WonderSwan emulators? I tried BizHawk, but it appears to have issues emulating the sound; either it straight up doesn't work, or the sound plays at a much slower rate than the action happening on screen. You might want to try asking Kelsey Lewin (@kelslewin on Twitter). She seems to be a huge Wonderswan fan, so maybe she'll know of a good emulator for it.

I'm actually pretty stumped on what to do with MAME lately. I was using UIFX for a GUI, but they stopped at 0.175, and regular UI(64, I guess), just doesn't seem like something I can get used to. If you guys have been keeping up, what have you been doing?

If you guys have been keeping up, what have you been doing? There's a continuation of UIFX here, but I haven't tried it yet. The recommended frontend by MAME itself should be QMC2, I could never warm up to that one.

Thanks. How did you find out about that?
It's worth it, other than the usual rom changes(mostly CPS2, as usual, and late '80's Sega). I can't find the one rom Shadow Dancer needs, so I renamed a copy of an exact sized one. It won't recognize the game, but if you double click it in the "All Games" list, it will run.

Perhaps you guys have seen this video around on the internet. That's right. Demon's Souls running on a PS3 emulator. That's right. A PS3 emulator. To be honest I'm very surprised such an emulator is being developed. I thought console emulation would stop with the last gen, at least for the next couple of years (I did find out about Cemu some months ago, though). The game runs surprisingly smooth and the requirements are pretty reasonable. I think it all boils down to having a good [Intel] CPU. If you're interested, this video looks at some recent emulation news: CxBx-Reloaded (Xbox), RPCS3 (PS3), Cemu (Wii U), and Project64 (N64). Missing from the video is Citra, the 3DS emulator. Take a look here. Citra, RPCS3 and Cemu are in constant development, and I think we can expect more great improvements in the coming months.

How would the online elements work, though? Demon's Souls is still good without other players, but that's like sex, it's much better with another person.

Is anybody still playing Demons Souls online anyway?
Console emulation is going to be important as a method of historical preservation as long as there are still console exclusive games.

Online play isn't a priority right now, and there's also the problem of actually connecting to PSN, as stated in their FAQ [are links okay?]: So if netplay ever comes it may only be for games with a LAN play option. Console emulation is going to be important as a method of historical preservation as long as there are still console exclusive games. Very well said!

I think if compilations happened more often, with as much, or more content than, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, emulation wouldn't be quite as important, but good luck getting companies to agree to that. Especially with the licensing issues.
The way I would do things, if I could run a development studio, is that every time they made a sequel, it'd come with as many of it's predecessor as could fit on the format it's released on. That way the companies legacy(especially if it went back to the 8/16-bit era) is preserved with every installment. Again though, good luck getting any company to see it that way.
Later edit: For the record, man Demul can be pretty brutal on the sound for Grandia II. You can play it from start to finish, but(and I'm not positive on this), I might have to recommend emulating the PS2 version if you absolutely want to play this game on PC, without Steam.
