It's based on the GB version right? Looks pretty good! The GG palette is very nice, better even than MD and PCE.

Oh cool, it looks really good. Toki ARC to MD. I grew up with the MD version but having played the arcade one I wish there was a more accurate port: I also did an arcade style mockup of the MD version out of curiosty: With a few more colors used on the avatar I think it could look better, but the rest came out pretty well.

I know this isn't quite what this thread is about, but I just wanted to say I wonder what would have happened had Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake got an SNES port that was released in America.
The whole series probably would have played out very differently, Metal Gear 2 is surprisingly similar to Metal Gear Solid in the way the story plays out and the events that happen, to the point that MGS is almost a semi remake of MG2, which I assume Kojima did knowing that MG2 was never released in the US but MGS would be.
But had MG2 come out in the US (let's imagine that the SNES port is more faithful than the NES port of MG1 was) that means that MGS would have had to be a totally different game, meaning that Kojima couldn't have gotten all meta with MGS2 and it's parallels with MGS.
So who knows how the series would have played out. I also wonder what it would be like had Konami made a Metal Gear for the Genesis in the vein of Castlevania Bloodlines and Contra: Hard Corps, a prequel starring Grey Fox maybe?

I imagine a SNES port would look similar to Ikari no Yousai/Operation Logic Bomb, Contra III and Mercs.

Ooh, now you're making me picture a Metal Gear in the vein of Rondo of Blood (or as you say, Snatcher) with anime styled cutscenes, maybe remakes of MG1 and MG2 with cutscenes? That would be amazing. I guess what I'm trying to say is I wish there was a little more to the series pre-Metal Gear Solid.
