My problem is that I just played through both Dead Space games, so I'm not really in the market right now for another RE4-style game, regardless of how much I love Suda51's work. SotD is so fast-paced that they're not really as comparable as one would imagine.

In terms of movement speed? Or just enemies constantly coming at you?

Just got this game, I'm not that far into it but I'm kinda suprised how well the Darkness element works. Having this hell monkey spray darkness over the goat's head which in turns let it fill the place with darkness, and in turn makes the demons invincible again and your life draining slowly away, that's pretty tense. So you shoot the goat's head with light and the place is drained from the darkness, but then the hell monkey tries to spray the goat's head again, so you have to stop him but first you have to get rid of his darkness since he's invincible then, and don't forget about the demons attacking you from the back (also covered in darkness). Of coruse if you directly storm the scene get rid of the hell monkey before he sprays the goat's head then there's nothing to worry about. I'm curious how this gameplay element develops in further stages. Boss fights are also more fun then I expected after seeing the videos. This darkness thing is actually pretty nifty idea. Anyone who reads the (equally weird) manga Dorohedoro? It seems the artist did the character design for Fleming and Hell's VIP's: VS Dorohedoro's cast Had to look for a confirm, but there it is: www.primagames.com/blog/2011/06/20/when-worlds-collide-shadows-of-the-damned-meets-dorohedoro/GHM already had Yusuke Kozaki (Speed Grapher) do the No More Heroes character designs.

In terms of movement speed? Or just enemies constantly coming at you? Movement speed, amount of moves you can do, enemy speed... just... Everything about it faster paced than RE4 or either Dead Space game. One could argue it's a refinement of their formulas, but it's much more like things were just taken in a much more tense and quick direction.

That's good to hear. Still not really into another shooter right now, but I've been pretty bummed since learning Skyrim took out Athletics and Acrobatics and replaced it with a sprint function tied to your stamina...
