I was really excited about the 3DS when it was first shown off, but due to frustrations with Nintendo, I'll probably be holding off. Street Fighter 4 is the only launch game that I give a damn about, and the launch colors are extremely boring (I swear that everyone at Nintendo must be fucking color blind). Plus, I really don't see the point of portable game systems that can only achieve about 3-5 hours of battery life. And knowing Nintendo, they'll probably release a red version of the system in about a year and then announce a 3DS hardware revision (with better battery life) a month later, screwing over anyone who bought the red system.
I'll certainly pick one up eventually so I can play all of the remakes, Resident Evil games, Mega Man Legends 3, Layton Vs. Wright, etc. But for now, the 3DS just doesn't seem like a very attractive $250 product to me.

As the 3DS library stands right now, there aren't any specific games that make me want to alter my current plans of waiting until Mega Man Legends 3 comes out.

I'm not planning on getting a 3DS anytime soon. Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars looks awesome, but aside from that there isn't any launch game I must have. There are lots of upcoming games I want to get though (which aren't remakes; I don't give a shit about seeing Ocarina of Time or Snake Eater in 3D), like both Resident Evil titles, Mega Man Legends 3, the new Paper Mario, Contra, etc. That's absolutely incredible.

The only games worth playing from the launch line-up (I mean: in Europe) are Street Fighter and Dead or Alive. Maybe Samurai Warriors later on, but the rest is crap and it hurts me that I'll buy a console and wait to that moment after E3 when I'll get any decent Nintendo games.
The problem with 3D which isn't impressive is - I think - that nobody figured it out well enough yet. It's kinda wild-wild-west now and it can be clearly seen - the difference between the 3D in tech-demo of Paper Mario, or even while playing Street Fighter and all those crappy Ubsioft start titles. When the game is made and it's dedicated to the 3DS, it's damn good and it looks cool, but when we're talking Ubisoft with their Rabbids 3D, Dinosaurs 3D etc., we're talking bullshit.
And well: no good racing games at launch (loading times in RR are pathetic), no good RPG... Too bad for the 3DS.

Is anyone really thrilled about the 3D effects? I think people are more excited about the game lineup and overall better hardware. Game lineup is very underwhelming as well... As it stands absolutely nothing interesting coming out on it at the moment (maaaaaaaaaaaybe that new Kid Icarus: Uprising game, because it's half rail shooter.. depends on the bosses), not gonna bother with the 3demakes. Needs more belt scrolling then I'll probably succumb or a good action platformer in the vein of Ninja Ryuukenden (and not these crappy metroidvania shite). At the end I do hope that interesting stuff comes out of it, the more the merrier. But looking upon NDS game library we have till now... it's a pretty underwhelming one buried in a crapton of jrpgs.

I agree with just about everything that's already been said. Until there's anything worth playing I'm not getting one. Street Fighter 4 is great and all, but do I wanna buy it for 3DS? No. I have it on 360 and don't need another version, ever.
I'm sure we'll start hearing about cool stuff soon. There's hardly anything on the horizon that interests me, except Contra. But once Super Mario Bros and Castlevania comes out I may very well buy it.

Being european I was dying to get my hands on the machine but the price gouging here put me off slightly and then the region locking totally put me off the machine. No way am I missing out on Atlus games. I'll have to wait until I've a job and can get a machine from the states.

I'm waiting for the games I want to come out for it. I just bought a PS3 (after years of waiting for a library to build), and I will be more than content being patient and letting the 3DS do the same before taking the plunge. And Nintendo's remodeling of the DS so many times has me wary of forking out money for the first rev, too.

No love for the new Pilotwings here? Sure, the demos so far have been a bit too far on the easy side, especially considering the two prequels could be brutally difficult in terms of getting perfect scores, but it plays nice, retains the old relaxing charme and boasts some of the best 3D I've seen on the system so far. Edit: And it's a new Pilotwings, for Christ's sake. If that isn't worth something.

No love for the new Pilotwings here? Well, it's not a must-have for me, but I must admit I forgot about it. Pilotwings was fantastic on the SNES. I am not crazy about the new "Wii Sports" look, but I'm sure the game is good. It's probably perfect for the 3DS too. It's one of those games that I will probably pick up at some point when it's cheaper. On the other hand, it could very well be one of those first-party Nintendo games that never ever gets really cheap. Dunno what that is about. All I know is that it happens.

I dunno, I just don't think Pilotwings has that much of a draw. Sure, it was a fun game on the SNES... but it was ultimately pretty forgettable, only really making a name for itself because it was one of THREE launch titles for the system.
I'm also not too impressed with the new Kid Icarus. One of the things that made Kid Icarus fun for me, as a kid, was the PLATFORMING. And those maze-like dungeon levels. All of which are gone from the 3DS version, in favor of just turning the thing into a shooter. And for me... that's just not Kid Icarus! That's ONE LEVEL in Kid Icarus, and that's all it SHOULD be. Not a whole game.

But this time it's really, really too different. I am not seeing anything in that game that reminds me of Kid Icarus. It's a game that is based on the Kid Icarus from Smash Bros Brawl, nothing else.

I'm mostly excited for RE: Revelations (actually scary Resident Evil FTW) and Mega Man Legends 3. But yeah, I'm not really looking to get one of these right off the bat.

Actually the deal with Pilotwings is that the 3D is slightly... bad, it's nothing compared to the likes of SSFIV - it's just... well, do you REALLY need those Pilotwings? Plus: the controls are crappy as hell, I just couldn't get this stuff to work while equipped with jetpack. But well, I was only playing with jetpack on so maybe other things are better. But no: Pilotwings is certainly one of those bad games in the start line-up.
The Kid Icarus though is pretty cool but without 3D. It's action packaged and flying in 3D is not what you really want: my eyes were sore in just a minute. The 3D effect wasn't perfect too, it was really HARD to concentrate on the 3D effect and at the same time navigate Icarus while shooting via the touchpad. This game is great but without the 3D effect: it works better, controlls better and looks better.

I've played two different demos of it and not only was the 3d effect fantastic and well on-par with SSFIV, but the controls were spot-on, allowing next to anybody to easily get the most possible points in both the jet pack and hangglider (was it a hangglider? Can't remember exactly) stages.
