A 3DS Castlevania is even more likely to happen than a 3DS Super Mario Bros. And even the latter is 200% likely.

Only a matter of time Yep. I can't wait for it (if they ever do something like that). Maybe DSiWare games could be run on them. And so I can finally play the DSiWare game that made me update my system in the first place: X-SCAPE

I'm looking forward to Super Mario 3DS. Now there's yet another must-play

I welcome any implementations from Nintendo as long as they are put to good use, let's see if future 3DS titles will help the 3D feature get more popular.
Anyway the number 1 reason I am buying the 3DS from day 1 has always been Paper Mario 3DS. The first two in the series are some of my most favorite RPG's while Super Paper Mario was a decent entry.

These days I evaluate my consoles using a specific set of criteria, as follows: 1) Does the console do something that a PC with a higher-end graphics card can't do? (Even if the overall cost of a computer is higher than the console due to the console itself generally being a loss leader, it'll probably cost less to upgrade PC components as necessary, and it'll be less locked down.) 2) Is the console itself locked down enough that it wouldn't make sense to replace my PC with it, or use it as an alternative to a smartphone? How hard would it be to jailbreak the device? (Although it's less powerful the touchscreen on the DS makes it a potentially more versatile device -- though the NGP has potential if it can be easily unlocked as well.) 3) Naturally, this ties in closely with the first point: does the console offer significant enough enhancements over the previous iteration to justify the upgrade? (The primary new feature of this current cycle seems to be that the consoles have decent online play. Of course that's been a given for PC gaming since the end of the PS1 years, I'd say. Stuff like graphical technology, memory space, and overall processing power enhancements in this generation haven't really changed the way that I approached games, nor led me to many situations in the games I've played where I felt the game really couldn't be replicated on a lower-power system and retain the important qualities that make the game good -- much like how stereo sound and force-feedback aren't what defines a game either). So, the 3DS: >Fits in my hands, like any portable -- something not true of my laptop which is just a bit too bulky >Has a touchscreen; it'd be nice to see apps (i.e., not games) that use it. >Fixes the primary limitation of the DS, which is specifically the very low-resolution of each screen; sure, 320x240 isn't a huge resolution either, but not only is that the smaller of the two screens, it's also now above the resolution of the average Genny game (rather than an SMS game). Hence it'll actually make a decent emulation platform this time around. Shame there's no GBA support anywhere around it though. >Has augmented reality features. Done right, this could be enough to properly distinguish it from Sony's offerings, but we'll have to see how it actually gets used. These alone will probably make it a worthwhile purchase eventually, but it won't be day one, for a few reasons: >Nobody can really jailbreak it -- yet. Sure, with some hardware modifications, I can get DS flashcards running, but that doesn't convince me to, say, trade my DS for it, especially since this won't have GBA support. I suspect this won't be a permanent state for the console but it's a reason for me to save up my money and possibly wait for a hardware revision anyway. >It's region locked. This probably won't be a huge deal, and quite frankly I think a number of developers will probably not region-lock their titles if they can get away with it; it seems to be doing well for CAVE right now with their 360 offerings. >I'm not exactly rolling in the cash and generally don't make it a habit to be an early adopter of hardware in general anyway. Am I impressed with it? Sure, enough so. But the NGP's improvements over the PSP might actually make it worthwhile as a piece of hardware this time around.

I'm getting a 3DS on day one because I'm confident there will be must-have games before there's a hardware revision, and the price probably won't even go down before a great game is released.
Unfortunately, the only launch day game that looked good was Pilotwings Resort, and I just read that it was outsourced to Monster Games, so I'm probably going to cancel my pre-order of that game.
It would be really weird to buy a new system without a game, but I'd rather get something more compelling than a downgraded port of Super Street Figther IV.
Nikoli's Pencil Puzzle FTW!

I don't get why you don't just wait til a game comes out that you actually WANT, then.

I wouldn't call a version that has everything the console counterparts have and some extras "downgraded". Reason I'm getting it is just to rock it portable.

Starfox 64 sounds fantastic, but let's be realistic, DS proper could've done that easily.
Also holding out for the NGP, though I will miss the more 'vanilla' PSP presentation. I hope the NGP doesn't kick old-school games to the curb(you listening SCEA?), because some of my favorite PSP games are 2d or traditional, like Half Minute Hero, Prinny, and... Eese? Hss? Something like that.

I'm definitely not looking forward to seeing lo-res DS games stretched out on screens 25% longer and wider.
