My Wii hasnt seen a lot of use lately, but thats because of the army. When I get back though, I got to finish off stuff like Epic Mickey and Okami. So yeah, it has its use.
Im getting tired of the dust gathering joke.

Pretty solid platformer. Its a mix of bits from Zelda, Banjo and even Deus Ex. Starts out a bit slow but then the plot catches on and it gets more interesting. The 2D levels might get annoying, especially the one's you have to go trough several times to reach the main hub. I didnt find camera that annoying as everyone said though.
I'd recommend giving it a try. Especially if you like platformers or you're a fan of the mouse or Disney stuff.

With the exception of fighting games, my wii gets more use than any of my other consoles currently. People rip on the wii 'cause it's not the 'cool' console to own because good games are scattered amongst shovelware on store shelves. However, I actually do have one legitimate complaint about it, the virtual console is horrendous in terms of what it offers compared to what it could offer, especially compared to xbla (I almost got a 360 solely for xbla stuff). Yeah, my big problem with the Wii is that first-party Nintendo games never, ever drop in price. It's taken 3 years but I saw a copy of the wario land game for wii that finally went down if even by a small amount.

I recently ordered the SNK collection for Wii. I will be rocking some Magician Lord and Metal Slug soon. The Wii is great for emulation, it was be so cool if more companies put out arcade compilations, with the exception of DataEast...their compilation only makes for a fine beverage coaster. I know some of the old companies could use the cash. BTW stop selling pachinko crap Irem and give us what we really want!

Seriously? I think VC has a legitimately fantastic assortment of games, especially compared to retro games on XBLA. What I would agree on was if you'd complain about Wiiware, but saying that VC is not just offering too little, but especially compared to XBLA simply boggles my mind.

I'd have to concur on the shortcomings of the VC in comparison to XBL. Sure, VC has a bunch of stuff from Nintendo systems, and even some 3rd party stuff that XBL doesn't have (Toe Jam & Earl, for example), but the selection on XBL is simply beyond what VC has to offer.
It's possible that you just don't care for what XBL has, which is entirely fair.

The VC's collection is amazing, but I don't really count so many old games that are already available elsewhere as much credit toward its selection. XBLA is infinitely better than the downloadable service on the Wii because it's constantly getting good, new games. There's not even one WiiWare title aside form the Rebirth games that I give half a shit about.

I'm a firm supporter of WiiWare, there's no denying that 95% of those games are an utter shit show. It's not even a matter of comparison with other services, it's just flooded with garbage, and there's little to no promotion to guide people towards the very small handful of worthwhile games. I say this as a supporter of the service.
Virtual Console is something I would rate a little higher, though there are some conspicuous gaps in it's library, we get maybe a game every 2 months, and the going price for downloadable retro games has gone down since the service first came about.

I love XBL and most of my time spent with home consoles nowadays is actually with XBL games, but you cannot compare VC to XBL, as VC is only the retro download service of the system, whereas XBL is the complete download service of its system. So you either have to compare the Wii's download offerings (which includes VC and WiiWare) or compare VC to what XBL has in terms of retro games and in the latter regard VC wins not just by a mile. Just tell me what great retro games XBL has, that VC doesn't, save for Doom, SotN and the Arcade Final Fight. Over all, though, the 360 has the better download service, that is for sure... @ Kitten: Try Nyx Quest. It has some utterly beautiful music and a great atmosphere.

I'm sorry, I forgot that retro games are all that matter.

Oh whoops, now that I realize it I forgot that the whole thing isn't called Virtual Console. My bad. I should have just said the 'wii online marketplace'.
Speaking in general terms of downloadable marketplaces, xbla has a vast assortment of new and good games in addition to some nostalgic games like Virtual On, Garou, and Perfect Dark HD.
Wiiware has nothing I'm interested in (except for the rebirth games which are fantastic) and the Virtual Console, where you'd expect to find all the good old retro games, just doesn't seem to have that much. When I first heard about the VC I was expecting to be able to get the N64 games that I missed or rented back in the day but never beat like bomberman 64 and Second Attack, or Jet Force Gemini, or Perfect Dark. Stuff like Zelda, Mario 64, and Wave Race I already have and I imagine anyone who owned an n64 already has too. I guess I'd have to say that it's not necessarily bad, I just for some reason expected there to be an expanded library for me to play stuff I missed.

Well, I'm sorry for you not even trying to get my point. Where did I say that that's all that matters? Let me quote mylast post real quick:
and
So I agree with you that XBLA is better than the Wii's download service, so what's your problem? It's just that VC is NOT the Wii's download service, but only a part of it. VC has tons of great games (that I still don't download, as I prefer physical copies) and WiiWare is mostly terrible, whereas XBLA as a whole is a great service.

The point is that it's entirely reasonable to compare XBL to the VC. It's not the end of the world if you think differently, but it does seem weird.

Mine's been mostly streaming Netflix movies along with the occasional game here and there.
