A modded Xbox for Mame (or better yet Final Burn Alpha) is great for some arcade action.

I'm surprised to see this being said about Xbox, I always thought it was a great console. I definitely liked it a lot more than the Gamecube at the time, and it was better than PS2 for multiplayer.
As for exclusives that haven't been mentioned I did love Grabbed By The Ghoulies and Kung Fu Chaos at the time but I was quite a bit younger then so I don't know if i'd still like them now. It had some great racing games like the Project Gothams and the Rallisport Challenges. The Oddworld games were pretty good. Breakdown was cool. The online was awesome for the time, I remember Crimson Skies being a lot of fun online.
So it's got a lot going for it, it's definitely in a whole other league to pieces of crap like the jaguar and the CD-i.

I guess the original Xbox wasn't an awful system, per se, it just didn't have enough good exclusives. No one could have predicted how Microsoft and Sony's fortunes would flip-flop during the next generation, though.

Oh and can't forget Capcom vs SNK 2 EO! Possibly the first online console fighting game? I'm sure it was the first one that played well at least.

Capcom vs SNK 2 EO probably came first, but they also had Guilty Gear XX # Reload which had online as well. I'm not sure how well either of them played, though. Those probably were the first console fighters with decent online released in the US, but I believe some fighters on the Dreamcast that were released in Japan had online functionality.

I played Capcom vs SNK EO online quite a bit and I don't remember having any issues with it, I had a lot of fun with it. I wasn't very good/serious about it though. I think there may have been a problem with people quitting to avoid getting losses...

Oh yeah, CVS2 Eo is installed on the Xbox as well. I can't play it with the bloated controller though.

There was a lot of people saying that alien vs predator on the jaguar was great at the start of this thread. Was at a retro games meet up last night and played it and my god is it terrible!

Weird N-Gage game.
My Slimline PS2 suddenly fucked up a few weeks ago. The strange thing is it showed no signs of decline, it just suddenly stopped reading discs. The console itself works fine, but it cant read discs, not that it fails to read them with its famous disc read error problems, it simply cant even spin the discs to try and read them, just suddenly with absoloutely no history of other problems.
I thought the PS2 Slimline was the perfected version of PS2 after the original being such a pathetic thing( I think I might know one person whose original PS2 from launch still works fine, but that seems like a freak occurance), it certainly seemed like that for years. Maybe insects killed it from inside or some other weird thing I'll never know.
