Hey guys, I was trying to build a solid playlist of jazz/lounge video game music and I was wondering if you had any pointers. I'm looking for a few hours' worth of stuff, enough to just put on and let it play.
Jazz, lounge, trip hip, techno, I doesn't really matter as long as it's smoooth, baby.
For example, I already know about most of Shori Meguro's work (Catherine's soundtrack is pure gold), Grim Fandango's soundtrack is also really good and some of the techno/trip hop stuff from Akira Yamaoka in Silent Hill is also pretty smooth (though not the caterwauling bits!).

Traveller Tales' Sam & Max series has plenty of jazzy and lounge tracks.
I'll have to go through my soundtracks to see what else I have.

Good pick, Silva. I remember cracking up for several minutes, once, because this track started playing on one of the multiplayer maps (I think the Stacks). =P

As far as I know, there's no place in the game where this is played.

Galaxy Force has got some sweet fusion... The name entry is pretty much the stereotypical jazz progression, at that:

Spelunky First Theme Spelunky "It Smells Like Wet Fur in Here" ice cave event song Spelunky Jungle B (have fun counting that time signature!) Spelunky Jungle C Spelunky Ice Caves C (some cool 5/4 time, here) Spelunky Haunted Castle (give it some time to get funky) Spelunky Black Market Theme Spelunky Brothel Sonic 3D Blast (16-bit) Rusty Ruins Zone Act 1 Sonic 3 Hydrocity Zone Act 1 (one of my all-time favorites) If you haven't listened to the band "The OneUps," you'd probably like them. They arrange videogame music into funky/jazzy arrangements. Here's their website: www.flavors.me/theoneupsEDIT: I can't believe no one's mentioned Toejam and Earl...maybe it's just too obvious, but I feel like it MUST be mentioned. The entire soundtrack is super funky for the first 2 Genesis games. Here's a video to kill 2 birds with one stone: an arrangement of a Toejam and Earl 2 Panic on Funkatron song by The OneUps.
