Is the Benetto a 9mm handgun? It's a probably a case similar to Uzi vs PP-81 where I opted for the weaker weapon because the kind of ammo the better weapon used hadn't started to appear in the wild yet.

I'll have to double check when I play again; I stayed up all night playing this and need to sleep now By far my favorite shrine I've found so far is the Mysterious Shrine, which shows a dedication to the Vectrex console . I knew I recognized it when I saw it, but its name slipped my mind until the game told me I wonder what other backer-created content (I assume a backer made that, anyways) is in the game. I encountered a really annoying traveling merchant recently, who I suspect was a backer creation.

Yeah, you're right; it's a 9mm handgun. I'm glad I didn't buy it yet I told myself I would continue on with the Rail Nomads... but I'm really enjoying grinding in this game. I now have at least basic armor (leather jackets) for everyone except one NPC in my party. I'm thinking I might try to replace my shotgun/energy weapons guy's armor though; it's a steel-plate armor if I recall correctly, and it's really weighing him down a lot in battle.

I finally reached California! The first part of the game was great, as it let you revisit the cool locations from the first game with the benefit of modern technology to give them way more substance than the original game had. But this new area is really great, because you get to explore all new territory and get to discover new locations and factions. Very cool. Also, I found a restroom area with a safe locked behind a 4-digit code, and the message "for a good time, call 867 (the rest is unreadable)" scrawled on the wall. GEE I WONDER WHAT THE CODE TO THE SAFE COULD POSSIBLY BE. I did get a chuckle out of the reference, though.

Thanks in part to the weapons I've gotten, combat is feeling a little too easy for me. I'm thinking I might bump up the difficulty to the third difficulty level I'm still in the Rail Nomads area right now; I just found Hell Razor's body... or what was left of it . I also recruited a new NPC, and will probably scope out the area some more. The new NPC I got gave me a side quest right after their recruitment, which I kind of want to follow up on.

Well, I just got hit by a show-stopping bug. The game no stopped accepting input on the world map when I leave an area, so I can't click on anything or go anywhere or basically play the game at all. My last hard save was a ~5 hours ago and frankly I cannot be bothered to replay all that shit over again. Nobody else seems to have encountered this bug, so there's no workaround, and thus I guess I just won't finish this game until the bugs get fixed and I give it another go from the start.
The second half of the game is incredibly untested and barely even works to begin with. There's another well-known bug that can permanently reduce your maximum party size by 1 if you don't work around it. Half the major questlines are really glitch-y and don't work quite right. Even the level design gets really lazy. Disarming the occasional trap, or picking the odd lock here and there is fun, but when quite literally 9 out of every 10 loot containers/dungeon doors are both trapped and locked you spend a godawful amount of time waiting for the stupid "you're using a skill" animation/meter to finish. It gets so bad that you actually start to hate finding loot just because collecting it becomes a chore.
The first half of the game suffers from a few interface bugs but overall is pretty good. My guess is they rushed the game out the door before it was ready, because the second half of the game really shits the bed.

Well, that's sad to hear. Dammit I hate when that kind of thing happens.

Crap That sucks. Brian Fargo did say they're releasing a patch within the next 24 hours or so, but it doesn't sound like all of those issues could be fixed with a lone patch. I'm in the Rail Nomads still; I really like how there's a guy who maintains and runs his own arcade . It makes me so happy to see. I really want to finish his quest.

I finally finished the Rail Nomads area For as much time as it took me to get through, the main quest line actually ended up being shorter than I was expecting. It was still entertaining though. Thanks to my bumping up the difficulty from Seasoned to Ranger, the combat felt more difficult, which is a good thing considering all the advanced equipment I have now. I just love that one of the shops in the area sells (non-essential item spoilers) a CD-i, a Sega Genesis, and a Neo Geo . I got the first one for a side quest I received, but I'm kind of hoping the other two will also have significance at some point later in the game. Even if they end up not being important in any way though, I'm happy to own them just because

I ended up going back to my old save and plowing through all that shit again just because I was so close to the ending when my game bugged out and it was irritating me. Fortunately, doing all that stuff a second time was much faster. So the good news is, I beat the game. Huzzah! Bad news is, even the ending is a buggy nightmare. The game does a Fallout-style epilogue of the areas you have been to once the game ends, and for half of the places I completed, the epilogue just plain got shit wrong. It said I helped one of the tribes in Rail Nombad wipe out the other despite the fact that I actually ended the war between them. It said that a certain asshole was still in charge of a certain location despite the fact that they weren't even alive to BE in power any more, AND I helped a nice person become the official leader of the area. Plus other more minor errors. Ugh. The first half of this game is quite good aside from a few minor bugs (which makes sense as the first half of the game was part of the Early Access thing, and thus got a lot of testing), but everything after that is a barely functional mess held together by duct tape and hope.

...Well, you can't say that it doesn't follow its roots closely. :V I mean, have you ever seen a bug report for Fallout 2?
Seriously, though, that sucks. Hope we don't have to wait for a fan patch.

Wow, that's pretty bad. On the bright side, the first patch for Wasteland 2 just came out, and it looks to be a pretty significant one. Maybe some of the issues you had are addressed in it?

A problem I had with larger amounts of water disappearing when using a canteen-extending item is fixed, which is nice. Unfortunately (Rail Nomads partner spoiler) Chisel 's stupid fucking pickle jar still gets transferred from his inventory to my lead character's inventory when he's dismissed from the party. It can't be thrown away or sold or anything, which is irritating. It bothered me enough that I reloaded a save just prior to hiring him, since I don't intend to have him in my party anyways. Hopefully that bug will get fixed in the next patch, in which case I'll go back and hire him so I can get the XP bonus. Aside from that really minor inconvenience, I helped clear a bunch of honey badgers out of a distillery. Thanks to my greatly improved weapons and armor, the honey badgers were much more reasonable to fight. They're still easily the toughest enemies I've had to face yet, however. They are seriously hyper-aggressive tanks. But anyways, I took care of them, and am now outside Darwin Village. Next time I play, I'll check out what's going on there.

I finished Darwin Village. It involves a lot of work to get through the "right" way; I tried to look up the first step for what to do online, and accidentally spoiled most of the area for myself D: For people wanting to avoid that, I recommend taking this step prior to going to Darwin, if you need a nudge in the right direction - check Finster's head in the Citadel museum .

I haven't played too much lately, but I decided to visit the Ag Center again for shits and giggles (I saved Highpool at Ag Center's expense early in the game ), and now when I enter it, my controls lock up. I also have been to Ag Center once before, just after the outbreak concluded and everyone who was there was doomed , in which I did the few quests there I could, and left. Now though, when I revisit the area (after having done several other areas since then such as Darwin, Leve L'Upe Mine, and Rail Nomads), my controls lock up and I can't do anything. I can't move my characters around on the Ag Center map, I can't move the camera at all... I can't even click on the globe to exit the map. Fortunately the menu still works, so I can still load a prior save (which I have several of), but it's still minorly disappointing that I can't revisit the Ag Center at this point in the game, just for curiosity's sake. ... I know this game is glitchy But I'm still enjoying it. I'm looking forward to seeing what the next patch adds; at this rate it'll come out before I get to the second half of the game, so I don't expect to run into quite all of the bugs Feynman did. EDIT: Huh; I decided to reload my last save, and it happened to be the auto-save that took place just inside the Ag Center. I can now move around in there like normal, for some reason. I even reloaded my quick save just before entering, and I still move around with no control lock-up. I wonder what caused that. Hmm...
