My two cents, play Dark Souls 1. From what I've read(someone here can confirm/deny this), there were changes made in DS 2 that have been reverted back to how DS1 works. In DS2 enemies stop respawning after you kill them 15 times while in DS1 they respawn infinitely. DS1 has an interconnected world while DS2 has more of a central hub. Item creation is more in depth in DS1. And bonfires work differently between the two. I prefer DS1, but DS2 is still a great game that should be played. As for BB, it's a fantastic game. One of my favorites, but is very much removed from the souls games. Play it on its own with no comparison to DS. Different mechanics and structure. Should I play DS1 on consoles or PC?

PC. Even though the PC port of DS1 is hardly ideal, it is still visually equal to the PS3 version but with better performance. With DSfix, it can look considerably better than the PS3 game as well.
Every game in the franchise with a PC version is better on PC, assuming your PC is up to the task of running them well.

Reminds me that I still need to tweak my PC version better. It "should" run on this laptop, but my fps is still pretty bad. I always get the message "FPS to low for online play" I bet I had less probs, if I could just install a better Catalyst... stupid Toshiba OEM bullshit >_>* Well, for those considering to start with DS1. Here are a few tips to get you started Also, beware of those fuckers. Should you happen to stumble over one early on, run! (yeah, I stole the thread title for this one^^)

I've asked before and I'll ask again, can you at least change the resolution to 1080p by default or is that something you still have to download a mod for?

I beat it today I'm ready to go back with a new character and the wiki and see some of the hidden areas and npc questlines that I missed on my own. I did manage to get one of the hidden endings tho

No, DSfix is required to run the game in true 1080p. By default, Dark Souls renders at sub-720p resolution just like on PS360, then upscales that image to whatever resolution you set. DSfix allows you to set the game to render in true 1080p (or higher). It's a massive boost in image quality.

got Dark Souls 3 platinum! I think it is one of the easiest (....) Souls game. I really liked the game. I think I will still play it and help some people regarding boss fights and/or escorting. The surroundings are really gorgeous. I liked the characters, especially Sirri, Greirat, Onionbro and Eygon. It is really JRPG of the year material (at least for me). The story was awesome and the references... honestly, they are really sad. I don't know what happened with certain characters from Dark Souls 3, but I hope they have a better future^^ My difficulty ranking: 1. Dark Souls 1 2. Demon Souls 3. Dark Souls 3 4. Dark Souls 2 According to Miyazaki Dark Souls 3 is the turning point. I don't know what he means, but Dark Souls 3 is a worthy last game from a great series. Yours sincerely Jack Caeylin Attachments:

People are, unsurprisingly, very split over the amounts of fan service in the game. Personally, I very much love the thematic connections to... ...Bloodborne. There is a lot of arguing over if it counts as an outright linking of both universes (the implications are so strong and elaborate that they might as well just come out and say "Dark Souls III is an indirect prequel to Bloodborne"), but I'd argue that we have at the very least an Age of Siegmeyer Sigmar scenario here, i.e. a maximal approximation of both universes without actually combining them. Also, the upcoming board game is looking amazing.

I don't know that it's really possible to attach it to BB that heavily, as much as it's more likely that miyazaki carried over his interests in lovecraftian horror as an influence.

I never know anything about the board game, but it seems to be very interesting.
Regarding the universe topic:
It is really debatable, but it is the same thing with Kings Field and Shadow Tower. Some people claim that the country Lordran(Dark Souls) Drangelic (DK 2), Boletaria (Demon Souls) and Lothric (DK3) are former parts of the old Kingdom of Verdite from Kings Field. I think it is just a Gimmick from From Software. Onionbro is a well loved character among fans. Siegmeyer, Sieglinde and Siegwart are soldiers from Catarina. We don't know where Catarina is located or the location of Bloodbornes country. It is like the discussion with the Moonlight Blade x Dragons. I mean even Armored Core has the Moonlight Blade.^^
Yours sincerely

The prime reason folks make the connection is that DS3 is so blatant about it (with entire logic chains attached), whereas most other references in the game are just the typical vague "remember this cool thing" shout-outs that FROM is known for.

There needs to be a DLC boss that shouts "RICHARRRRRRRRRRRRRD!"

And if you kill him, you get the Metal Wolf Knight's Chaos Blade. And Quelartorichard's Nipple Ring, which is a ring that boosts your swagger.
