I'm appreciating DS2 the more I play DS3. I really liked it anyways, but it was nice to have a different setting with very little call backs to DS1. DS3 seems to do this to little effect.

I'm still apprehensive about continuing in this series. I really enjoyed DS1 before new game plus, well and save for fighting Ornstein and Smough before I got that one rapier and the Darkmoon blade spell. But my roommate rented Bloodbourne from his Gamestop and I just could not get used to the systems they have set up, the Cleric beast made me decide I should skip it at least for now. Later he brought DS3 and I did great even killing that little mini boss right at the beginning on my first attempt. Just to get smothered by absolutely everything past the hub area. Those knights man.
Maybe someday I'll git gud enough for these damn things. I desperately want to but I'm not about to go buy a copy of Scholar and then find I can't manage to play it, especially since I hear 2 was much harder than 1. I'm inclined to believe them since after getting beaten by BB and 3 I went back recently and breezed through 1 no problem. I guess its some mental block I have, dunno.

Shield and spear.
If you are struggling at any souls game, that is the easiest way to play, the funny thing it is that they nerf it with each iteration but still it is brainless, heck I even was able to do my no deaths run in DS2 with a santierĀ“s spear.
Of course, bloodborne it is another tale without shields but still the gunlance wrecked enemies.

I've gotten to the point in DS where I just pump up dex and run around nearly naked with a katana. Works every time.
I hope we get something new in the next couple years. Bloodborne was a great successor to DS. I now I've heard that this is the last Souls game, but as with anything I'll believe when I see it.

Well since they basically turned off Poise for some reason, and split the equip load into its own worthless category I think heavy armor isnt worth it in DS3.
Just stick to the fallen knight or the Abyss Watchers armor and run all dex or strength. idk

if you want a worthy heavy armor build equip a weapon with quickstep and go 99% load.

That's exactly how I managed to get into the series. I was really struggling on my first attempt at DS1 and was close to giving up on it altogether, but after switching to a spear I found it gave me a lot more leeway to learn enemy patterns. The moveset does get a bit boring after a while, but eventually I improved enough to use different types of weapons. Two games later I'm still really bad at the games but I don't feel like I have to rely on using a spear as a crutch.

Anyone gotten deep into infusion? I've got a murakumo and an uchigatana at +8 and some gems to burn. But I haven't leveled up Int or Faith at all. Is it even worth it at this point to infuse with elemental attributes? Because raw/sharp/etc don't really seem to add anything to the weapon.

I had a fire Uchigatana. It didn't scale with anything. Not even faith or INT.
I use a Sharp Gem now on my katanas. Scales great with my Dex stat.

I upgraded my uchigatana to +10 then added sharp. My Dex is at 38 so it's working out well enough. About to pick up another Slab so I can +10 my murakumo and was thinking of either going heavy or poison with it.

Yep, the Black Hand scales even better with sharp. Chaos Blade doesn't let you infuse it but its already pretty sweet as is.

So... any undead around who'd like to participate in some jolly cooperation on PS4, or are you already hollowed? Also, is there any weapon (maybe upgraded?) were a fire infusion would actually makes sense? I started with an assassin (Cheesecannon!) and right now it looks like I'm heading for a quality-build.

Today I was sunbroing in a Giantdad cos, and the first phantom that invades my Host is Solaire. Happy Opposite-Day!
Also: Any recommendations for Straightsword infusions, or which boss souls to transpose?
