What part of "American localizers slapped "SMW2" on it, it was never developed as a direct sequel to SMW" don't you understand? It doesn't matter. It was a prequel. I understand perfectly. Don't change things because you didn't agree with it. I could name numerous examples of this. "Wario Land:Mario Land 3" starred Wario and spunoff into it's own series. It's still called "Wario Land:Super Mario Land 3". Mario wasn't even in it.

What matters is the intent of the original developers, if it was not developed in mind as a sequel to Super Mario World, then it's not a sequel to Super Mario World.

I'm done here and would like to be banned and deleted. Continue on circle-jerking each other with the same 5 members. This place will never grow or get any new members when you all continue to wack off to each other. Don't bother talking shit after I'm gone. Tell it to your fucking mother's. Fuck you all.

Soooooo...
Wouldn't it be cool if there was a Mega Man X9, in the style of the Super NES trilogy? It remains one of my favorite trilogys in all of gaming <3

Seems like the X series kind of got more than enough sequels, but yeah. If they could make another good one, that would be great! I'd love to see sequels to Nightshade on NES and Shadowrun on SNES. Both were developed by Beam Software and teased further entries in their respective series, only to never materialize.

I can do with or without the 8-bit throwbacks of Mega Man 9 and 10, but a 16-bit throwback would be hawt

It does seem weird how retro titles appear to focus entirely on the NES era. We need more SNES/Genesis-inspired stuff. I would give my left nut for a new Shining Force and Phantasy Star.

Haha, that would totally be cool to see. (Which reminds me that I should really play Phantasy Star III and IV >_> <_<)

Plenty of the more ambitious and/or innovative 8-bit games would've been cool to see a proper 16-bit remake or "more of the same with more polish"-style sequel for. I'll try to focus on the ones that could benefit the most: Castlevania 2 Ghostbusters Faxanadu Ultima 3-5 Thexder 1-2 Spellcaster The Last Ninja 1-3 Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode Kid Icarus Below the Root
Little Computer People Laser Squad Robo Warrior/Bomber King 1-2 Golvellius All Points Bulletin Otocky Legacy of the Wizard Rygar Knight Lore King's Quest IV
Colony C64 Space Quest 2-3 Head Over Heels - was remade by fans but barely updated in terms of gameplay Zeliard TMNT NES The Battle of Olympus Star Wars NES/SMS Solstice Bionic Commando NES & GB Solaris Atari

Good riddance. On topic: It is indeed also a shame there was only one SNES Zelda, which is especially odd since every other Nintendo console save for the Wii U got two Zeldas. I guess at that time Nintendo felt they had to innovate instead of refine, so they waited for the 3D era of the N64. By the time Link's Awakening rolled out, the N64 was already being developed, and relatively close to (planned) release, so obviously making a 3D Zelda was priority. Zelda being one of their top series and all. So I don't think it's 'waiting' for the 3D era per se, as it was developed at the same time as SM64 IIRC.

I always felt that Link's Awakening was enough of a "ALttP 2" to not miss a second SNES game. Aside from having to swap items more frequently, it doesn't feel like a minimized experience.
I always wanted a Torment 2 that focused on TNO's time in The Blood War. The ending to the first could have been the intro to the second.
