Unfortunately Monolith seems to have the same phobia of the number 3 as another famous Seattle based developer because they've literally never made a third game, so who knows whether a NOLF 3 never happened because 2 didn't sell well enough or if they just didn't want to make it. Their "third" game was essentially NOLF 2 with all the stealth ripped out, leaving only subpar shooting mechanics and recycled locations, in an attempt to market the games to the more action-favoring audience. It wound up as the worse of both categories. That might have been enough to motivate them to never make a proper sequel again.

I totally forgot about that one and never played it. But that one seems pretty clearly a spinoff and not a proper sequel, but you're right that it may have dissuaded them from continuing the series, which is too bad, why did they bother with that crap and not a proper third game?

A new Thousand Arms would be nice, too. 10k Arms?

Still need to get around to playing that one, though apparently it has a really embarrassing gay stereotype.

Another one....Threads of Fate. Only have Mint as the villain and have Rue and a new character to replace Mint set out to stop her but in the end she's defeated but not killed. Mint was something of a bitch and a few characters, among them her own sister, believed she was evil. The way she was in the game makes me wonder if anyone really hated her.

Not exactly a sequel, but I want a Sega All-stars fighting game, with characters from all their classic series. Old-school Phantasy Star, Streets of Rage, Shining Force, Die Hard Arcade, Virtua Fighter, Golden Axe, House of the Dead, Yakuza... Even obscure characters like Rikiya from Zombie Revenge, Spike from SpikeOut, fucking the guy from Deep Fear, even. Fighters Megamix was great, but this wouldn't be limited to AM2 characters.

Looking at the cover art on Mobygames it seems like they way downplayed the 60s setting and made it more like a generic shoot 'em up, plus of course there's changing it a generic male protagonist instead of a unique female one. But that's part of what made the NOLF games great is they were ahead of their time, sure Cate Archer was a swinging '60s catsuit clad babe, but just by virtue of the fact that the games were first person meant it wasn't all boust just ogling her. Still need to get around to playing that one, though apparently it has a really embarrassing gay stereotype. It was developed by From Software, so I guess that makes the gay stereotype the "Dark Souls" of gay stereotypes?

Would be interesting seeing a centaur in a fighting game that isn't a Boss character.

But then we'd have the same MK ninja problem. There are like 1,048 centaurs in Shining Force.

Like a Sega version of Super Smash Bros basically? Yeah, that would be cool.

Well, there was Contract J.A.C.K...
Sad, but they probably couldn't even make NOLF3 anymore because of all rights shenanigans.
E: aaahh, too late, too late.
