Fuck me, what a crapfest. Hayashi has officially run the series into the ground for me. Oh, wow, and Ryu is a "Japanese Dark Hero" now. That guy's so full of shit, I want asshole Itagaki back! Anyway, I have some hopes for Devil's Third and was kinda disappointed they didn't show it.

(Though I've only extensively played the Ninja Gaidens.)

I can see a couple of positives to the Wii U controller:
If you can really use it to play HD console games without monopolizing the TV, that's a good feature.
It allows for games without HUDs/lifebars/etc.

Well, that and this generation the portable games have been (by and large) so much more interesting than anything on consoles. It allows for games without HUDs/lifebars/etc. I'll give you this one. I see this more as an evolution of the concepts embodied in the DS, and even the Dreamcast (VMU), than anything revolutionary. I don't necessarily have a problem with the concept. I'm a bit worried about the execution though.

I agree with that- but there are still a lot of console games that either aren't feasible on handhelds which I would like to play but can't due to TV sharing issues. It would be nice to play Demon's Souls while the kids are watching cartoons.

I can see that. Being single, it's not an issue for me so I tend to forget not everyone's so lucky.

I can see that. Being single, it's not an issue for me so I tend to forget not everyone's so lucky. Nintendo really gets this kind of lifestyle issue in a way that MS and Sony don't. If they can get the 3rd parties on board, I suspect we'll see that there is a latent core gamer audience that's older, has kids, etc. It's a totally different set of concerns. I really dislike the PS3/360 emphasis on online play with random people. Nintendo's online infrastructure is geared towards families, which is great. And they are way better than anyone else when it comes to local co-op play. And the Wii U controller really seems oriented towards making local co-op better. In an era where many games have abadoned local co-op altogether, that's great. If I could buy one system that would: 1. Have a kid-friendly online infrastructure 2. Have Nintendo's perenially excellent 1st-party software 3. Have some meaty 3rd party stuff for me(e.g. RPGs) 4. Not give short shrift to local co-op 5. Stream Netflix I'll be a happy camper. Of course, 3) is the big question. And the fact that Nintendo is pushing another out-of-left-field controller, whatever its merits, is working at cross-purposes with the goal of attracting strong 3rd party support, especially on the issue of getting multiplatform games. Same thing with being on a different hardware cycle. You can't be the same by being different.

So with the new console, Nintendo's gonna get all the latest games plus the first-party titles? For real this time?
The new controller looks fascinating, but Im a bit worried about the price. The name is plain stupid. Whats wrong with the Super Wii?

Ignition is bringin Dragon's Crown spring next year; it's the first Vanillaware game on an HD console. The one screen that I saw of it looks incredible.

Nintendo's stock took a huge plunge after unveiling the Wii U. Investors and fans alike seem displeased with this new console.
