That one song from Deep Labyrinth in Shawn's part of the story. It's an extremely short composition with sharp pizzicato string melody that only lasts for one measure. And is repeated. Over. And. Over. Sure, there's a chime or something else in the background, but all you hear is the annoying melody. The worst part? You have to hear the damn thing every time you want to save or talk to an NPC. I can't find any recordings of it (probably for the best), but anyone who's played the game will know what song I'm complaining about.

vetus, it seems that usually, the only time Genesis music is good is when the game was designed with the Genesis hardware in mind (like virtually all of the Sega-produced games on that system for example). Some of the ones produced with X68000 hardware in mind isn't bad, just not as good as the original X68000 versions (see : Granada) As far as other games (that Sega didn't produce) that I thought had good music on the Genesis : MUSHA, Metal Fangs, GleyLancer, Battlemania DaiGinJou, Gaiares, Rolling Thunder 3, Valis, Valis 3. I don't really know if Technosoft's output counts as Sega-Produced or not.

Sega didn't publish Dark Castle. Didn't remember it, though. I did know I was forgetting something. Also, to the user who posted the Lion King music, I'm not sure how the SNES music is, but the Genesis one's pretty good, although maybe it's because I'm a sucker for Matt Furniss music (dude made some awesome stuff on the system) Also, I demand we make a Cheesy Music thread. Mostly to post this.

Wow! Was the music of the arcade version too lame for them? Maybe the arcade version's music sounds more like Master System's game (makes sense since the arcade version was released in 1984) but at least it's more pleasant for the ears and very catchy. Also, to the user who posted the Lion King music... Who actually has a nickname... ...I'm not sure how the SNES music is... Uuuuum...that's why I posted videos for both version but it seems you didn't checked them in order to make a comparision yourself... ...but the Genesis one's pretty good, although maybe it's because I'm a sucker for Matt Furniss music (dude made some awesome stuff on the system) Yeah, it's good if you're a Genesis-holic and generally it's not bad (even thought I've heard better soundtracks in Genesis even from third-party companies) but still sounds like a shit in comparison with the SNES version. Also, I demand we make a Cheesy Music thread. Mostly to post this. When you say "Cheesy Music thread" you mean "Cheesy Vocals Music thread", huh? Count me in! Here is a sample for you: hg101.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=games&action=display&thread=7664

While it's technically unused, this is still the worst piece of music ever attached to the Castlevania franchise (0:02 in): www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS5S8lvp9fsMy undertanding with the Genesis soundchip was that it was very difficult to program, which was why you had a lot of bad-sounding soundtracks on the Genesis (and why Genesis sound emulation is so cruddy most of the time.)

Yeah, I know... Also, I now listened to the SNES Lion King music, and it's quite good too. I'm not sure which one's better, though. Also, Teddy Boy Blues rules. I didn't know it was based on an actual song.

Alright, this thread's getting just a little sidetracked, so here's one more.
This is the only song for EVERY FUCKING STAGE. ARRRRRRRGH
The only good part of this game is that Rad Gravity kinda resembles Bruce Campbell.

Yes, I know exactly the song - it hurts even worse because all dialogue portions of the game take place on both screens, which lags the game down really hard, and makes the text take forever to skip through.

Also, my contribution officially has everything trumped ever. In this corner, from a Venezuelan pirate Genesis game that barely counts as a game at all, it's CRAZYBUS:

In this corner, from a Venezuelan pirate Genesis game that barely counts as a game at all, it's CRAZYBUS: Same thing happened to me when I found that out. I couldn't believe that the same guy who made Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit did that, and when I told that to my brother, who absolutely loves that game, he couldn't believe it either. And CrazyBus... man, it sucks. I remember "playing" that on some PGEN disc I had for the PS2 (it was a complete romset... from 2006). That guy also did a Christmas 2004 rom... which was basically the same thing as some 1992 Christmas rom from one of those scene groups (Magical, Paradox and that kind of stuff) but with the text changed to thank several members (at the time) of the Eidolon's Inn forum (Steve Snake included) and with the guy's logo in place of the scene group's logo.

Burning Rangers japanese vocal opening is uber awesome and one of my favourite videogames openings. From the other hand, the english version makes me want to find the vocalist and smash him down with a guitar a la Furi Kuri:
