It's been well over a decade since Streetwise, I think time has healed that wound. Plus, like I said, Capcom has kept Cody & co relevant by including them in Street Fighter and the retro-revival thing has worked out well for them in the past, so I could see it happening.

Talking about SEGA Ips done by western companies... i really dug Shinobi 3ds. I'd rate it above all the shadow dancer games, game gear shinobis.
Ill have to wait and see for this.
Bare Knuckle 2 actually is qutie cartoony I'd say. BK1 and 3 are grimdark. So I guess they go for that BK2 feel.

Streets of Rage 2 isn't far removed from 3 visually, and not any more cartoony than any given early '90s beat-'em-up, so I'm not sure where you see that contrast.

Yes they are, Bk2 is more vibrant colors and cartoony faces, Bk3 has more realistic faces and genral darker color tone pallet. And im not talking about the character portraits just look how they do skin in BK3 clearly goong for grimdark realism late megadrive quality. Contrasted with the goofy cartoony designs of the bosses to the grimdark bosses of bk3.

We're not seeing the same thing. The bosses designs in SoR2 aren't generally "goofy" or "cartoony" at all. The tone pallet is not especially light. It's considerably darker and more "realistic" than Final Fight, or most of its beat-'em-up contemporaries, almost none of which can be adequately described as cartoony either (except like Comix Zone). The sprites are larger than in SoR1, but the overall look is in continuity. More than that, it looks absolutely nothing like that new game. There wouldn't have been any reaction if it did, because SoR2 is the most famous in the series.

I would definitely describe this guy as cartoony. He looks like a Punch-Out character.

Or a Final Fight enemy, which I don't really think of as overly cartoony a game either, in the context of video games. I can see the Punch-Out comparison for him, though he looks kind of mean per Punch-Out standards. But I did write "generally", knowing a boss or two might escape me.

Come on now Look at the faces, pretty cartoony. The color pallet, more solid shading. Looks almost like a saturday morning cartoon. The Main Cast, especially Max. And R.Bear, Zamza, Ababade, Jet (clearly inpired by jet link/Cyborg002 fromCyborg009), the knife punk. Just look a their faces!

That's more anime than Western cartoon. Even then, by video game standards of the time, the proportions are largely realistic, and so are the environments.

The exaggeration of cartoony faces is taken an inch back. Its like BK2 is a Joel Schumacher Batman and Bk3 a Tim Burton one. its japanese style, but a Japanese style intimidating western comics/cartoons In that retrospect, I really do think SOR4 is going direction Bk2, only even a notch more (satm) cartoon-y.

Come on, that's so over the top. There are hundreds of games that are infinitely more cartoony, flashy, glitzy, light-hearted, etc. than SoR2. SoR2's general style is just closer to Final Fight than its prequel, if anything. It's a pretty standard look for a Japanese-made beat-'em-up at the time, perhaps meant to attract Western gamers, but also without turning off Japanese. SoR4 looks far more removed from SoR2 than 2 does from either 1 or 3.

It looks like a mobile game rather than a SoR sequel.

Yes, but given that Konami actually made a livin' out of making Beat'em Ups from SatM cartoons... the likes of Violent Storm and Metamorphic Force carry that cartoony feel in their DNA. I never said Bk2 was light hearted, i just said it was drawn a bit cartoony. Whereas Bk3 went for slightly more realismin how they drew their sprites (Axel's running animation is a good example, just watch it's skintone animation). Maybe a better comparisom would be that Bk3's feel is more alike to Super Shinobi wheres Bk2 is more like Super Shinobi 2

No idea what you're talking about. Final Fight is easily the most grounded and realistic of these games. SOR2 characters throw fucking fireballs and have fire and chi waves emanating from their limbs during special attacks.
Other than the fact that Final Fight has moon-esque gravity when characters jump (like basically every 2D game ever), it's pretty damned grounded. No fireballs, no chi waves emanating from bodies.
Mr. X turns into a fucking sci-fi Terminator style robot for shit's sake, and you've got the Robocop evil robot running around. There's nothing near that outlandish in the original Final Fight.
