www.streets4rage.com/Looks like Sega licensed a series out to Lizardcube again. Before it was Dragon's Trap. It's made by Dotemu, Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games who worked on Streets of Fury. I'm actually shocked. It took how many times to get a 4th game made? There was pitches for a 3D game as early as Saturn.

I'm pretty excited. I've been on a Mega Drive brawler binge with one of my friends lately so this is hitting at just the right time to get me hyped.
Not 100% sold on the art style but it's nothing offensive, I just prefer me some pixel art.

Totally, if they can get Yuzo Koshiro back to compose. Hope they bring back the patrol car support blast from the 1st game too.

Koshiro says he cannot talk about it. If he is back for music either it is the whole soundtrack or he is doing a theme or two.

This looks like typical outsourced trash, with that horrible Western cartoon look typical of those goofy modern revivals that completely miss the point. As a fan of the original series and '90s beat-'em-ups in general, I'm giving it the world's hardest pass.

As a fan of the original series and '90s beat-'em-ups in general, I'm giving it the world's hardest pass. You wanna elaborate on that at all, maybe? Because I'm not seeing it. I mean, seriously, you're being kind of rude about it, I'd say. You have no idea what the game is actually like, you have no idea how long this game has been in development... and besides that, what exactly were you expecting? I feel like if it were pixel art, you'd see just as many people complaining.

We haven't even seen in-game footage.

lurker There's game footage in the trailer. Bobinator How long the game has been in development is irrelevant. People in the game industry mostly work long and hard, regardless of whether the result is great or abysmal (aside from the worst asset flip factories or whatever). I'm not fond of this trend of dead series from the golden age of Japanese game development being revived by small-time, mostly western studios (though Double Dragon 4 was Arc System Works, and it was also trash) with terrible taste in aesthetics and a muddled understanding of what made these games good in the first place. This isn't the first time, and I've seen enough of it. I'm not especially interested in elaborating further unless you really, really want to, because what I've written seems clear enough to me. New companies ought to make new games and not insert themselves in a legacy that isn't theirs.

Personally, i like Paprium's look a bit better, but we might not even see that coming. Setting the right atmosphere in SoR is crucial, if they don't wanna start looking for funeral singers.

I do feel the crappy western adobe illustrator art misses the point. The original games had quite a grounded look to them. They were dark and gritty. It had a pre-Giuliani new York feel to it.
Thus looks like a typical Saturday morning cartoon or pretty much any other low tier indie games.
I just really hate lazy adobe illustrator art.

The artstyle IS overtly cutesy, but honestly, this is just missing some shading layers and colored lights and bam, it's Death Wish: The music video all over again. But I really hope some grit does get added (and I don't mean blood and the like, just a darker overall colorization). It is really weird that a long awaited sequel is actually LACKING in the "dark & edgy" department. The "cut scene" stuff is right on the spot, though. And yeah, bring back Yuzo Koshiro. To me, beat 'em ups are 75% atmosphere based, and the music plays a huge role for that. Personally, i like Paprium's look a bit better, but we might not even see that coming. Yeah, what's up with that one? Also, please do some kickass Streets of Rage merch, Sega. I'd buy a shirt (unless the design sucks ass).
