I was told the story for the game was that Tingle was supposed to be finding his lover, who I was surprised to discover was a girl. That's why I was surprised to find out he wasn't gay.
Idk, maybe that's not the story and the owner was just messing with me, but he seemed to definitely believe that was the case.

Man, I remember seeing that Tingle game in the game shop my friend used to work at when I visited him. We joked with the owner about it... I couldn't believe Tingle wasn't gay

There were a lot of things I found nearly revolting about the presentation (and story and characters, etc.), and I missed the scale of some of the old battles, but it provided an even more addicting gameplay experience and weighed a lot of development in on secondary characters, which I loved. If only the secondary characters were as good as they were in the first, though :/

I own both 1&2 but haven't played them. Every time I consider it, I consider how everyone I know who has really enjoyed them has generally been an idiot who refuses to play games outside Playstation, how they were hyped to death, even by Sony, as a "Halo killer" and how they deceived us with the "game footage" they showed for it. It just seems like a series I'd be unable to shake the "corporate hunger" taint off of.
But I could be wrong. Maybe it's really good. When I'm out of this game funk, I'll likely play them.

Eh, worthwhile half price purchase. Next up on the downloadable games backlog: Hydrophobia. Wait, when was Limbo half off? I've only seen it on sale once at $10/800msp, which I still felt was too much for a 4 hour game that had crappy flash-esque animation and no music. I might have bought it/will buy it for $7.50/600msp (1/2 off), though.

This clip is pretty lame, I hope it's not going to be representative of the quality of the show on the whole.
They should just bring the Duck Dodgers cartoon back.

Hey, everybody, I appreciate all your responses. I think I'm going to take a break and lightly play for a while, and focus my "gaming" onto tabletop, for a while. I used to play WH40k and WH several years ago, and now that I've got some good, local friends, I'm thinking about giving D&D a shot and have already started playing "HALO ACTIONCLIX" with a few people (which is a simple, but fun game!).

I strongly suggest just joining random parties and asking people if they will do it. I got it that way, granted I already had 3 people who wanted to get it that were friends. I had to help a friend get it again later, though, with only 1 person who wanted it that was a friend.
The community in the game generally isn't that bad, and you can send people a text message about it in the middle of a session (very easily if you're on Xbox.com).

I'd be more wowed by the 3DS if nearly half of its preview library weren't made out of modern-generation console remakes. "Modern-generation?" Shit, we've got a bunch of previous generation remakes, too, like Star Fox 64 and MGS3

This either looks less danmaku than it did before, or I'm remembering some other game. Looks pretty rad!

You know, more and more lately, I find it increasingly difficult to just sit the fuck down and play a video game. Back when I was younger, when I had the opportunity to play a new game, I would play it and very typically enjoy it. It was such a casual experience, like going out to see a movie or watching a new cartoon. Today, however, things are entirely different, and I really, really can't say it's for the better. Now, when I sit down to play a game, it's a decision I have already spent quite some time dwelling upon. Does the game have collectibles? Does it have multiple difficulties? Are there are achievements? How long will it take me to complete the game? Am I confident I will consider my time well spent? How many days might I have to invest to finish it? Are there things I can skip the first time through, and if there are, will I be likely to replay it? Am I prepared to critique the game once I've played it and consider what I like and dislike about it enough to confidently explain to others? I have to consider all of these factors, and before I know it, most games are becoming this psychological burden to me that I'm intentionally avoiding play of even when I have time do it. They feel like an obligation rather than a relaxing way to spend some free time. For example, take a look at my list of games that I own and haven't finished, and see how many RPG's are on there that I haven't even started. Click here. It's a pretty big number! I think I've counted it up to exceed thirty, before. It's not like I don't want to play most of these RPG's I've bought, it's just the idea of being washed under a sea of tedious things to do overwhelms me. The same feeling often gets me with even simpler games, as that list should definitely illustrate. Anyone got any advice on how to just relax and play games again? How to kinda erase that compulsion for commitment from your mind and just be in and out? I'm sure I'm not the only one here with this "problem."

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter is the best game nobody liked. =( I actually hear this a fucking lot. So much so that I bought the game. Of course, I'm still trying to work up the esteem to tackle another RPG, and when I do, I have, like, what... 30 to choose from? - in fact, I think I'm going to start a thread on this and related sentiments.

Oddballs in the series, huh?
Does the Mega Man Legend series count? If not, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne surely does, right? I loooove those games. I also really enjoy Neo Contra, although it's sunken out of my favorite Contra games. Hmmm... Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth for the N64 was pretty fun, even though it's definitely one of the weakest in the series.
There areeeee... probably a bunch more of these that I can't think of right now that I did enjoy.
